I'm a teenager who has been suffering from Major Depression for over a year now, and it is only getting worse. All my life I have had a pressing need to be close to someone. The loneliness gets so bad that I tend to fall in love with people simply because they love me too. But it never works out. I want to connect with my friends, family, and lovers. But the Depression holds me back. What can I do? I only want to be loved.

I was the exact same way as a teenager. At least you have a name for it and know what's wrong. Are you seeing a therapist or doctor for the depression? If they gave you a medicine like Paxil (an SSRI anti depressant), the extreme lonliness will go away. I hope you get help now and not wait till you're in your mid 20's like I did, because there's no need to feel this way. Why suffer if you don't have to?

Some of it may stem from not having parents give you the love you need(ed) as a child, especially your father if you're a girl. I hope you feel better very soon!! :)

you need to work on building up your self confidence and that will be a big step forward. I will give you a good link or two to look at for that. Then, don't try too hard for a while to go beyond friendship with anyone but just be friends and the love will come from that. Once you build your confidence people will come to you and life will be a lot better, I assure you.

Talk about it. Share what you are feeling. Not to offend you, but maybe if your not on them... depression pills. Let people know whats bothering you, they can help. But dont simply fall in love just cuz they love you. Its only setting yourself up for more heartache.

You need to start doing more uplifting activities. Tennis or something like listening to uplifting music. Like John Mayer.
You have to start fighting this feeling that's keeping you back.

I WOULD STOP TRYING SO HARD AND LET LOVE COME TO ME FOR A CHANGE BECAUSE RUNNING TOWARDS LOVE ONLY TAKE YOU 3 STEPS AWAY. SO I SAY TO WAIT AND SOON LOVE WILL COME YOUR WAY.
