History and historical buildings.
I have been in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, and only in Japan I found a like mix of historical and modern buildings.
I am sure you will find that mix more in Asia.
In most of Europe it is common to have buildings in the town that date back to 700 ad, 1200 ad and so on. And it is not only the churches either, many farms have been used since the 1500's and still use some of the older buildings.
An other point are dialects.
In most of Europe each village and each part of each town will have a slightly different use of the language from the next.
An experienced person can listen to someone and place him to the mile/suburb. Some countries have it stronger than others, but all countries in Europe have this. (But this also goes for Asia.)
People tend to relocate less, moving house acrosss the country is rare, moving across the continent is rarer still, but it does happen.
See all Polish people in England at this moment.
As a result of this staying in your own area, the local traditions, like food, hollidays, dances, are still rather strong.
But the current generation, with radio, TV, internet and so on, is more foot-free, more likely to move even if the economics do not make it needed, and less adhering to the local traditions. Although everybody still prefers to eat the local foods most of the time.
The 'new world' is more of a mix, the differences between one place and the next are smaller and less outspoken, because all people moved there in the last 2 centuries at most.
Most in the last 50 years, and that is not long enough for local roots to have grown.
The colourful houses the other answerer mentioned are there in some areas, but will not be found in the next country over, sometimes not even in the next town.
