I would say it is all up to you.
I have mine done and I love them, and I am 18.
And as far as people saying "what are you going to do when your 70." Psh.
They will close back if you stay below a 00.
and they don't smell if you clean them.
Its always the same kind of thing as tattoos, people are always going to tell you not to, and some will tell you yes, but it is your body and should be your choice.
Just make sure you know what you are doing and what could happen before you go through with it.
Also read up on it and then talk to your parents, if you give them a good reason to say yes they should.
Make sure if they do let you do it, make sure you do everything right, take your time.
Good luck! =]]]]]]

Yeah...guess what...the hole WON'T close if you gauge past 0.
It's up to you. It's a personal style thing, but think about this...If you plan on going to college, what do you think your interviewer will think when you walk into his office? Or if you want to get a job (a real job, not a job at a pizza place or a Blockbuster, but an office job or something), what do you think your potential boss will think when he sees your ears?
Some people won't care...but older people (and your interviewer or boss will definitely be older) tend to really hate gauges. They think it says something about the person, which is stupid, yeah, but you can't stop people from judging based on first impressions.
If you decide to do it, just ask your parents. If they say no, bring it up again. Don't be obnoxious, don't be immature. Look up health risks and stuff so they know you're not just being rash.
And if they say yes, make sure you do it right. After each time (if you get it done or do it yourself) make sure you put tea tree oil or vitamin e oil on it. It helps keep it from getting infected (and that's just gross when it does. It'll hurt and itch like heck and it smells SO bad).
So just do it right. And actually think about it. Don't just do it because you think it might be cool. Do it cuz you want to if you decide to

Yea They are ok
But my friend got that done and all they had to do was keep stretching them until they got to be the size they wanted to.
But They get infected really quick. Also dude if u gotta ask ur parents to get ur ears gaged u might want to do alittle more research on them first....
Just be like Oh hey i wanna be unique let me get my ears pierced and then just buy the stretching things and just keep streching them little by little

You don't gauge your ears. You stretch them to get larger gauges in.
If you want to stretch them go for it, it's your body.
I think if they are healthy stretched lobes, they can look beautiful.
My parents never noticed how large mine were until I started wearing tunnels.. so about 4, 2, or 0 gauge. I don't remember which because it's been a long time. You may need parental permission to get pierced, but if you already have the lobe piercings and want to stretch them yourself go for it.
Just take it slow (stretch a gauge every 2-3 months), use tapers, and don't skip a gauge. If you do skip gauges, you could get a blow-out, which are big bubbles on the back of your lobe. They look disgusting. The first time I seen one in person I stood there with my mouth open in hopes they didn't see me because I was at work. It took me about 3 years to get my lobes to 5/8".
If you ever want them to close I'd stay stop at 2 or 0, as that is known as "the point of no return", but I have heard of people who have larger ones completely (or almost completely) close. I doubt I'll ever want to close mine, I've had them at this gauge for years. If anything I'd want to stretch them more, but I have spent lots of money on jewelry at this size.

Don't do it. Both of my kids have theirs done and over the years they actually got tired of them but what can they do? NOTHING b/c they have these huge holes in their ears. It is not attractive at all.
Needless to say.....to stretch them out gradually to the size you want, it is VERY painful......ask my kids!!!! They are 21 and 20 and I truly think they are regretting it now.

There is nothing wrong with guaging your ears. Unless you do something wrong.
Read up on it, and find somewhere you can buy the earrings.
Oh and just to let you know when you stretch your ears, if you want to take them out, your ears will return to their natural size, contrary to popular belief.

You might want to do it now, but when you get older, you will end up regretting it. I have seen people with hideous stretched earlobes and it ain't pretty. The reason you feel you need to "get by" your parents is because they don't want you to do it. They are a lot older and know better.

I never liked them until i dated a guy who had like nickel-quarter sized ones in his ears. they looked so hot ON HIM! theyre definately not 4 everyone. i don't mean to sound like ur mommy, but when u decide to take them out when u get older or something, it will be groody :- ) I prefer industrial piercings on all people (I'm into guys) That's why i got one and I LOVE THEM!!!

You can become addicted to anything. Especially if you don't choose to accept the consequences, and instead do it because you want to. At that point, you associate is with the liberating thrill of social defiance.
