Another thing to keep in mind is that generally there is a switch inside some tachometers that you have to move to select the number of cylindars that your vehicle has. I would assume that your duster is either a V-8 or V-6, make sure you are on the correct setting. Most of these selectors are under the casing that the guage itself is housed in.

You should have a TACH terminal on either your distributor or your ignition coil. After wiring power up to your tachometer, all you should have to do is run your TACH lead from the guage itself to the TACH terminal on the two components listed.
