so I am not on the pill or any other thing to keep me from getting prego, but I wanted my bf so bad I just let him pull out. I never got pregnant, is there really sperm in the precum? I ask because playboy claims its free of all sperm that the precum that seeps out is to help lubricate, does anyone know for sure?

Like many methods of birth control, reliable effectiveness is achieved only by correct and consistent use. Observed failure rates of withdrawal vary depending on the population being studied: studies have found actual failure rates of 15-28% per year. In comparison the pill has an actual use failure rate of 2-8% while the diaphragm has an actual use failure rate of 10-39%. The condom has an actual use failure rate of 10-18%.

For couples that use withdrawal correctly at every act of intercourse, the failure rate is 4% per year. In comparison the pill has a perfect-use failure rate of 0.3%, while the diaphragm has a perfect use failure rate of 6%. The condom has a perfect-use failure rate of 2%.

The primary cause of failure of the withdrawal method is the lack of self-control of those using it. Poor timing of the withdrawal can result in semen on the vulva, which can easily migrate into the female reproductive tract. Some medical professionals view withdrawal as an ineffective method of birth control. In contrast, a recent study in Iran found that provinces with higher rates of withdrawal use do not have higher fertility rates, and that the contribution of withdrawal use to unintended pregnancies is not markedly different from that of other commonly used methods such as the pill or condom.

It has been suggested that the pre-ejaculate ("Cowper's fluid"), fluid emitted by the penis prior to ejaculation, contains spermatozoa (sperm cells), which can easily pass into the upper female genital tract in the presence of cervical mucus. However, several small studies have failed to find any viable sperm in the fluid. While no large conclusive studies have been done, it is now believed the primary cause of method (correct-use) failure is the pre-ejaculate fluid picking up sperm from a previous ejaculation. For this reason, it is recommended that users of withdrawal have the male partner urinate between ejaculations, to clear the urethra of sperm, and wash any ejaculate from objects that might come near the woman's vulva (example: hands and his penis).

It they do it on the right day, high A lot of people have gotten pregnant There are only a few days each month one can get pregnant, and they been lucky. Some people can go years and never get pregnant and others one time and they are pregnant with pull out method It's a game of chance not really a method of birth control They should always use a condom, that help protect against STD's and HIV as well as pregnancy You can only tell them that they need to use an condom, but if they think they are right, until one get pregnant, there is nothing you can do, except keep telling them to use an condom and spermicide

There really is sperm in precum. The pull out method is NOT a reliable form of birth control. Get on the pill, or keep condoms around at all times. If I were you I would get the morning after pill.

Pull out method is not effective. I have the 5 year old child to prove it.

If you don't want to get pregnant, get the pill, use condoms- something real.

Ugh, never ever use pulling out as a method of birth control. From a woman who got pregnant from it I can tell you that YES there IS some sperm in precum and YES it's enough to get pregnant. It only takes one. Use some other form of contraceptives, such as spermicide, or condoms or both. Anyone who says there's no sperm in precum is lying to get you to sleep with them without condoms because it feels better.

It is not very effective. you have just been lucky up to this point. either make him use condoms or you really need to be on the pill. But remember nothing is 100% effective but I thank this method is less than 50%.

I have proof that it is not a very effective method. I have pictures of my son, my niece and few friend's kids. Wouldn't trade any of them for the world, all blessings, but if you don't want to get 'prego' buy a box of condoms and/or get some kind of birth control.

yes there is some sperm that can be in the precum. pulling out as a type of birth control is like the myth that if the girls on top she wont get pregnant. If i were you, I would go to a free clinic and get on the pill. it can be 100% confidential and it works alot better than what playboy suggests. if anything make him wear a condom.

It's around 80% effective. That is, your chances are 20% of what they would be if he came inside you. Even on the day you ovulate and with full internal ejaculation, you only have a 33% chance at most of getting pregnant
