There is much debate on the subject. I'm not sure if it invalidates but based on the Quran it's not allowed. Check out this link it goes into great deal over all aspects of the debate.

I don't know, but maybe you should ask this in the islamic section called Ramadan. It's under Society & Culture and then Holidays I believe. There's some hard core religious people in there and I'm sure they'll tell you the answser!
