For the past 3 years I haven't been able to let anyone see me eating... This is a huge problem when it comes to eating in cafeterias. Is this a psychological problem? what's wrong with me?

Is this behavior helping you? No so what can you do to change this? Try and eat a small food item and don't worry about it once you feel better go for something bigger and go from there. It is a phobia and you can overcome it by making small changes and wait.

I have known several people who have had this problem, so you are not alone. Most of the time it seems linked to a poor body image-- if you are overweight especially. I think you are afraid of what others might be thinking or saying about you. If it is a psycological problem, it is a common one. The friends who I know of with this problem eventually got over it, so it does not seem to be permanent. Do you also have a problem eating in front of family and close friends?
