Yes, actually, it is fairly common. Chances are some of the blood ended up running down the back of your throat and getting swallowed. That made you nauseous. Nausea makes you vomit, vomiting makes your nose bleed worse, and also gives you the burning/painful sensation in your throat. That's from the stomach acid. Drink a little bit of milk or some Pepto-Bismol and it will go away. Next time, put cotton inside each nostril, pinch both of them shut, and lean forwards for 5 minutes. If it's still bleeding after that, repeat for 10 minutes. If it's still bleeding after that, go to the ER. Heavy nosebleeds for no reason are usually suggestive of a hematologic issue. To go to the ER for a simple nosebleed, unless you suspect a fracture or you've tried the above method and it didn't work, is a waste of money, a waste of time, and occupies a doctor who would otherwise be attending to something important. These answers are an EXCELLENT reason why you should not trust important medical issues to Yahoo! Answers. Other than myself there is ONE person who has the slightest idea what they are talking about, and since nobody loses any credit for "thumbs down" answers, they don't have any problem with posting garbage. At least this time the stupidity fell on the side of caution; I've read several questions where the answers, if followed, probably would have killed the person! All the best, -Dr. Finn

Odds are the blood drained down the back of your throat and you are coughing it up. If it seems like more than this, or you continue coughing up clots after 30 minutes then it may be more concerning. You should have your blood pressure checked as high blood pressure can be a complication of pregnancy and can cause nose bleeds. Also your body and hormones change a lot when your pregnant and if you are in a cold dry place then your nose is more likely to bleed.
Of note -people often tilt their head back with a nose bleed and this is the wrong thing to do. Leave your head level or slightly forward, pinch your nostrils for at least 5 minutes (my son needs more like 10, for his bleeds) This usually does it without the blood draining down the back of the throat

i had nosebleeds the first month or two. You should not have swallowed enough blood to cough up. you could have a dry throat and they're busting when your coughing. you could also have an ulcer. but i would get it checked out ASAP. you can bleed out and you wouldn't even know it. I would probably go to the hospital tho for the sake of your baby and yourself.
Is the blood red or darker and clotted
I doubt its a lung. probably esophageal

You could be dehydrated. Call the doctor and talk to the nurse or doctor on call. My cousin had some serious nosebleeds in the beginning of her first pregnancy and she was dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. Definitely to the hospital, immediately. I have no idea what caused it, but I'll have to say that sounds serious. Go now and don't wait for us to answer when we're not doctors. That's not normal.

i'd say that you have swallowed a bit of blood. The stomach doesn't digest blood, so the only place for it to go, is back up.. but i'd go see the doctor just in case that may not be the reason..
