What type of coral? There are various methods, depending on the type of coral (hard or soft) and what you want it to grow on.

If it's a hard coral, I've seen saltwater epoxy and superglue used. If a soft coral, it can be sewn (yes, with a needle and fishing line or thread), or covering the piece with a square of nylon hose and tying the hose down. Some will attach themselves where they are placed, and others can be "trained" to grow in a specific direction (onto an adjacent piece) so they're already attached when they are cut.

I've attached a few general links on coral propagation below, but I'd suggest googling "(the species you have) propagation" to find the methods that work best for the type you're attempting to propagate.
