Do you think Dog's show should be cancelled? Does he really deserve all this? Yes, he used the n-word and that is not right. But he was talking to his son in a private phone conversation about how he felt his son was with somebody who was not good for him. Might we not all, as parents, get upset and/or say something inappropriate if we were trying to help our child and felt they were not listening to us? Does Dog deserve another chance?
*I personally don't believe Dog is really a racist. I have seen his show and read about other things he has done in the community; a community, I might add, that is made up mostly of people who are not white. He has a big heart and often feels very deeply for the people he has to arrest. He often gives them second and even third chances. I think he just got upset and said something he shouldn't have.

I am very interested in the opinions of black people on this issue, to see if the media is making more out of than they should.

I agree with you. I say worse things than that sometimes, but luckily for me, I am not in the public eye like him. That phone conversation should have remained private. I will continue to watch his show, if it comes back on.~~~

Precious, I always love your questions. And yes, it seems that we seem to agree on just about everything…

Ok, so I had to do a little research on this to understand exactly what happened. I’m a fan of the show, but it’s not something I watch religiously. Of the few shows that I have seen I can tell that the Dog is an extremely compassionate person. He does more good for society in one episode than 80% of the entire population will ever do in their entire lives. Clearly he should learn to use more care when he’s speaking passionately to his son, but removing his show over a stupid mistake is ridiculous. The bad guys and girls of the world need to see that someone like the Dog is going to find them when they screw up and serve justice to them, but at the same time make sure they get the help and respect that they deserve. I respect the Dog. He’s a good hearted guy that gives a damn and doesn’t succumb to his own fears. He gives others strength and hope. Yes, he’s a jackass for saying what he said, but he deserves a second chance in the same way that he gives those he hunts a second chance. My vote… don’t cancel the show.

I agree with you. It may have been wrong to say (it was also wrong of his son to make it public knowledge), but he shouldn't be treated like he's a criminal. I think they canceled his show because they are afraid of a backlash - especially from a couple of people who shall remain nameless, and those who join in with them. No, I don't think he deserves that.

He should apologize and he did...abjectly!

When I think about it, I'd say he's being treated as worse than a common criminal. He's being treated like what he said is something he's DONE; and that it's the worst ACTION a person can do. It almost seems that some people don't get this riled up about terrorists or murderers or child molesters...

Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business ... it was a private convo between him and his son. I also feel like the "N" word is a bad word and I choose not to use it BUT for all of the blacks out there saying he shouldn't have used it and offended them and yadda yadda .. just like Master P on the Dr. Phil show .. well that to me is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If it's a bad word than NOONE should be allowed to say it. I don't care what color your skin is. It is so stupid that it is okay for one group of people to use the word but not another. Everyone needs to get over it ..... isn't this country suppsed to be about FREEDOM of speech!!!

Yeah ... there isn't any irony here at all. He posted bail in Mexico on these charges and guess what - he jumped and fled to the U.S. The supposedly positive impact Dog has on society as absolutely nothing to do with him jumping bail and hence his current fugitive status. On his show, does Dog ever catch someone and then decide to let them go because they are "an overall good person." Give me a break. Let me just preempt your response - "yes but the people on the show aren't good people." Dog is a convicted murderer.

I think that everybody is just over reacting to this. People say things to their friends or family in confidence that they would not normally say out loud for the whole world to hear.We all have said things that we later regretted .As for the words that he used I hear people of the same race saying it to each other all the time .Why is it OK for certain people to say it and others are considered racist. Dog has done alot to change his life around and helps get the bad guys off the streets.

I totally agree with you 100%. I think that he deserves another chance. I mean, if celebrities can get DUI's and have their shows stay on the air then why not Dog??? What he said can't kill innocent people like Lindsay Lohan or Nicole Richie driving while intoxicated. I think that we should all boycott A&E until they put the show back on the air.

everyone needs to quit yelling racist because of what he said.I don't believe he is racist.I do believe he is prejudice and there is a vast difference between the two. What he said wasn't wrong,it was inappropiate but he can say whatever he wants.Should Ae suspended him,no.That should have been left up to the viewers to voice their concerns to the station and their sponsors just like what happens on other programs which is why we have a rating system now.
I watched Chris Rock perform and I was entertained, although I found some of his comments crossing the racial ettiquete line I still viewed them as his personal thoughts but he had a right to them like anyone else.I could have chosen to ignore him altogether
Hopefully my point has been made.

No I do not think this show should be canceled, because it was a private conversation between him and his son. Also when someone one is irritated they say things they do not really mean. Or they are not thinking about the words that are coming out of their mouths.

I have a hard time saying he made a mistake in front of the world, since what he said was during a private phonecall. It was wrong, yes...but what have you said when you thought you were speaking to someone one on one? And would he think his own son would tape him and sell the story? I think Dog has a great heart, and he's apologized. Put him back on the air...I miss him.
