A touchy topic, isn't it?
I don't think it is necessary for you to tell her. Only let her know if you're pregnant or if you get a disease from it, or if you get attacked (or someone makes yo do something you don't want to).
If you're underage or under the age she thinks is acceptable, DO NOT tell her except for the reasons above. Do you really want to get busted? There really is no point unless you need her help. But stop doing it.
I do not share your problem directly, but there are things I have done that I do not want my parents to know. my best advice is to get out of what you are doing if you are under 18 or so, and let it remain a secret.
If you are over 18, no point telling her either, she'll probably know you've probably done it at some point.
I know people often tell you to own up and not worry about getting in trouble, but you can live without the issues this could cause, especially if you don't know what her reaction would be.

Why do you want to tell her? That's not to say you should or should not, but it is a big deal to tell someone, of all people are mother, that you're sexually active. You should know why you want to tell her and then it will become easier to just come out and explain it to her. Chances are she will be understanding about it, or she could just freak out. Either way, it needs to be your call to tell her. It would be a good idea to tell her, but you might just end up stopping once she knows. But better that thann then winding up pregnant; and at least even if you get pregnant, she will know and it wont be so much of a shock to deal with the circumstances that follow a teenage pregnancy.

A serious answer.
If you and your mother have an open relationship, you should be able to tell her, but be prepared for a reaction that's bad. If you don't have the best relationship, you don't necessarily have to tell her, but I urge you to be careful. YOu can get an STD having unprotected sex, and you need to be cautious. Make the person you're with get tested or at the very least wear a condom.
Good luck.

Start a conversation about sex and teens today. You should get a vibe of how the convo will go. Hopefully your mom will appreciate your honesty, but not support your choice. Bottom line is, as someone else posted, if you think you're grown enough to have sex, you should be grown enough to take the heat. However, please get to a Dr and learn about STDs, consequences, and get on a reliable birth control.

That depends on how old you are! If you're below the age of 10, tell her that somebody was molesting you. If you're 10 to 15, tell her that her baby girl's a slut. If you're 15-18, say nothing, and if you're above 18, she's probably taking it for granted.

Okay I am having this same problem I am only 16 and I haven't told my mom yet..But I am going to tell you what I am going to do and you can try too............
I am going to have a mother daughter day with her and we are going to go to the movies and and maybe out to eat....(My mom likes to talk about her past and I love to hear stories so I guess that is where I am going to hit her @)I am going to just bring up the conversation about pregnancy and the many disease... You can catch.......... then I am going to tell her about what I did......................
(What I think you should keep in mind)
I hope you understand that it's not good to have sex and learned your lesson.....You are most times out 10 not married and can't own up to the responsibility of having a child of your own so it's not good to have sex...................If you can't own up to making the mistake of having sex..............
Most times you aren't going to end up with the guy your sexually involved with and when he is tired of having you he's going to move on to another girl and most times you'll move on and be mad at yourself for not saving yourself for that special person.....................
I hope you understand.....

Well, it's good that you want to tell her. If you are open to your mum about sex, then it should be fine to ujst let her know.
Good Luck.

omg..i definetly recommend just letting her know. tell her that you just want her to know because you love her that much.
hell.
its better than your best friend telling her right?!
thats what happened to me and o boy..all hell broke loose. so i recommend telling her before your best friend does.
