i was wondering what exactly is the golden rectangle, like an exact definition for it.

A golden rectangle is a rectangle with the shot and long sides in the ratio 1:φ, where φ is approximately 1.618

Rectangles with this proportion are generally regarded as aesthetically pleasing, and have interesting mathmatical properties.
