What's the best way to handle uncirculated coins without getting fingerprints on them?

Gloves or anything so that you are not actually touching them. NEVER touch an uncirculated coin with bare hands and when you do touch them (even with gloves on), pick them up by the edges being sure that you don't place any part of your finger on the face of the coin.

You want to get some coin gloves they are a thin white cotton glove. On washes his hands before using them to get rid of all oils. See a coin dealer for a pair or the can be ordered on line at www.brooklyngallery.com as well as other supply companies. For storage 2X2 Mylars that are stapled should not be used due to the paper dust. On copper coins it causes spots on the coins. It is not that healthy for silver either. Common circulated coins can be put into them. I would buy archival 2X2 safety flips. They now have car board 2X2's that are self seal, I have never used them so don't know if they have the paper dust problem. I use safety flips or hard plastic cases like the type Whitman puts out, or the Coin World type. The word archival means a lot. Glad you asked, for I saw a real expensive coin at my dealers for a very low price-reason, large finger print on it. In a pinch you can use a white soft cloth that has no softener on it like the dryer type.

Both of the answers you have received so far have given you good advice. Coin storage has always been a problem for uncirculated coins. Dust and microscopic drops of moisture will ruin an uncirculated coin very quickly. Many coin albums are made from cardboard and will have small dust particles that could settle on the surface of your coins. Generally, it is advisable to leave coins from the mint in their original packaging. This does not guarantee that these coins will be safe from environmental damage. I have owned and seen many mint sets from the 1980's that were packaged by the mint with dust on the surface of the coins. This dust resulted in a corrosion spot on the coin's surface. I have also seen mint packaged coins with fingerprints on the coins. Books have been written on the topic of coin storage. It is not an easy subject, particularly when it comes to copper coins like the penny.

If they are uncirculated coins, they come in a protective cover. If they are not protected, they are circulated, Your best classification would be "Almost uncirculated."

As for handling, gloves. As for the comment of "qtip and use rubbing alchol"? Please Don't Do! Considered coin doctoring. See links for proper coin handling.

The uncirculated coins I have a plastic 'cover' over them. I am surprised your didn't come that way.
Maybe try a lint free cloth. Like those delicate ones that you would clean your glasses with. Try not to handle them until you do that. You can probably go to a coin collector shop and buy the plastic inserts to put them in. I know they are around here where I live.
Good Luck to ya

dont handle them !!!!!! if you do have to wear a 100% cotton glove. any oils you get on the coin will destroy the surface.

you may use golves or any other type of thing that covers your hands. so that they will not become dirty and have fingure prints on them...make sure if you do get fingure prints on them then you need to put on gloves and take a qtip and use rubbing alchol.
