The better option is, of course with work experience. Some MBA programs even made work experience of at least 3 years as a pre-requisite for admission. Professors in MBA or other graduate programs prefer experienced students because of their ability to relate the theories with the realities they came across in organizations, especially in courses like HRM, OB, HRD, Strategic Management, Marketing... But, if you are accepted into a good MBA program even without experience, then accept it..

The better schools don't accept very many students without work experience.
If you are able to get into a good school -- then it is worth the wait. If you are unable to get into a good school -- then the MBA won't help you much at all -- whether you have work experience or not.

My husband got his MBA in business admin- Financial services. He didn't do an internship because he was in student government. When he went to find a job, a lot of places were looking for SOME experience working in a real office with experience actually carrying out real tasks. He is very capable and was then too, but he had to work extra hard to prove himself to be the best candidate for the job. It took him a few months to get job when we were dating. Now he has one, but since he didn't have any real life experience with his field, he didn't start getting paid as much. Do work experience so when you are done, its easier to find a job.

Defiantly work experience! I would say 2 years is enough expososure outside to work and think in real world outside of an academic context.
