It's sweet and I don't think Mandy is trashy. I like that nickname. I know two very wonderful people named Amanda.

I know too many little girls that are terrible with the name Amanda. I love the name but I never would name my daughter that. But that's just from personal experience

I do like the name Amanda, always have. But people will call her Mandy, but I love that too, so that wouldn't bother me, would it you?

No i think its a bit late 70's early 80's name. However it is not the worst name ever.
If you use it don't go with the nickanme Mandy, that is so trashy.
