I'm trying to reduce the iron in FeCl3, from Fe (III) to Fe(II), using ascorbic acid, but I don't know how to write the balanced chemica equation. (I think it has something to do w/adding H20 as a reactant)? Is this redox??

ascorbic acid is C6H8O6

The iron bit is easy:

Fe3+ + e- = Fe2+

To do the ascorbic acid bit, you need to know what it gets oxidised to. Otherwise you can't even get started.
