Its all in how you look at it.I love Christmas.Decorations are theee reflection of a celebration,the celebration is the birth of Christ.We need a day for this celebration,December 25 th. The gifts are in honor of the gifts given to the baby Jesus.That said if you do not like the way it is all the commercialization do you not understand that you are the one making it so?How can you complain? Yes its about money at the retail level but how many actually spend the time making a gift?In the world we live in today time is the precious commodity and few of us have it.So if you can not make a gift you are buying a gift,you can't blame the stores for trying to get your dollars.Everyone can have a simpler holiday,if you were poor you would know this.So enjoy your self ,your time off and be grateful we can all still have this most precious of holiday to spend with our lord or any other way we choose to do so.Blessings and a Merry Christmas to you.

I think that Christmas should be the celebration of the birth of Jesus. It has become different from that in American culture, however, which makes me sad. It's too commercial now, and now it can be defined as a time when you get presents, eat, and decorate a lot, even though it should be much more than that.
For me, and not just everyone though, it's defined as a season full of joy where I can just be happy and take a break from everything and celebrate Jesus's birthday, because he's a great guy. (:

Christmas is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. Christmas festivities often combine the commemoration of Jesus' birth with various customs, many of which have been influenced by earlier winter festivals. Traditions include the display of Nativity scenes, Holly and Christmas trees, the exchange of gifts and cards, and the arrival of Father Christmas (Santa Claus) on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. Popular Christmas themes include the promotion of goodwill, compassion, love, acceptance, kindness, generosity, excitement and peace.

Its a celebration!
Whether you are Christian of not, Christ may have not been born that exact day but by golly we will celebrate his birth even though we adopted the day from the Babylonians.
Sure it pumps revenue into the free world, whats wrong with that? Commercialism, in economic terms yes, but like it or not, we all are affected by increased sales during the winter months.
Merry Christmas!

Christ = Jesus
mas = birth
The word itself defines it is a time to reunite and celebrate one more year of his birth.
If you believe in Jesus and its message and teachings, than anything that goes in the same direction and purpose would be the best way to commemorate Christmas.

For those of us who live with depression, the holidays can be a very sad time of year.
Suicides peak during the holiday months of November, December and even January. The reasons vary from person to person, but still devastating to their friends and families if their loved one follows through with an attempt.
So, look out for loved ones you know or suspect may suffer from depression during this time of year and have a happy one.

I agree with you. It is the celebration of Christ's birth. I wish more people would remember that during the holiday season. It's a time for families to come together and praise our Lord for all He has blessed us with.

A celebration of Christ's birth, and a time to reflect on how he came to die so that everyone could be saved if they will just accept his gift.

Actually Christmas isn't really Jesus's birthday, Emperor Constantine created this holiday acutally, i think i've read that somewhere in my ap european textbook and that Constatine actually stopped the persecution of the christians after Emperor Diocletian. So, I guess its a big holiday for christians and non christians, it has been ingrained into the american culture for years.
