* How can anyone who agrees with capitalism sleep at night?
They go to a store and buy the best bed available on the market with the money they have.

* Capitalism=inequality.
How?

* Do you feel the wage distribution is just?
Yes, you have the choice to shop for the best buy or the best job. You give product or services and get money in return. I'd like to use something different from goverment money.

* Do you feel that people should be slaves of those that control the capital?
I don't see it that way but just to humor you. Let's say that I'm a slave of the one who controls the capital. I work (what choice do I have?) and he gives me money. The other choice is I work, whatever I produce is taken away from me and distributed among those who doesn't work or are so bad at it that they can't make a living. Tough choice...

* How is this fair?
Forget about the capital, forget about the money. It's about free market. You give, you receive. You don't like it? get out of the market.

* Shouldn't we all be paid equally?
No, if I work harder I deserve more pay. If my work generates more revenue for my employer, I deserve more pay. With your system, why would I work hard? I'd get the same pay. Why don't I stay home and let all you, socialist leeches, to die of starvation. I do productive work, you live a better life thanks the the money the government take from my paycheck to improve your life.

I don't like capitalism the way it is today. Thanks to socialism we have corporations, government supported economic groups, and money that change its value not for market reasons. That changes the equation, a lot. I want Libertarianism, real free market.

I don't think everyone should be paid equally but I do agree there is a wage distribution problem in our country. A movie actress can make $5Million for 3 months of work on a crap movie. As a nurse I will work 12 months this year and only make around $36K. I work 12-13 hour shifts and am never off my feet. I've worked since I was 16, earned a bachelor's, and pay my taxes but will never see the kind of money an uneducated actress can make. Those of us who contribute most to society seem to get the least. Take away the teachers, nurses, firefighters, social workers, etc and see what society is like. Too bad I don't have a penis and a talent for playing football. Then I'd be making millions and could literally get away with murder(OJ). Gotta love America, justice for all :P

I guess the problem is you haven't stated clearly what the problem is ? What you see as inequality is not all that bad a thing. Would you like to get paid the same wage as the person next door to you ? What if you worked 40 hours a week steadily, and they worked 20 ? Or if they had a much easier job of say....passing out pamphlets ?
No one said life was fair, and sometimes that is a bad thing, but its reality.
Capitalism is basically someone putting together a plan and forming some sort of business with his own sweat, blood and tears........and venture capital to make a profit. The reward for all these efforts obviously is profit. Now you could go on about how some company has bad policy or treats people bad or is greedy, I'm sure there are, so if it bothers you that much, that is why people would personally boycott that company and their products. Maybe even go as far as to write letters, report wrong doings or go on TV and apply some pressure. You do have to be careful when you do that though, you need facts that are proveable.
But to suggest that capitalism is bad ? The free market is just that....Free. It is people who decide what works and what doesn't, it is people that decide what price they are willing to pay and for what kind of product or brand name. Now days people seem to care only about price, thus the reason Wal-mart with its soiled reputation is still in business and making money.
I don't think people are entitled anything that they aren't willing to earn. The "free lunch" mentality is one that is much more flawed than the free market. Sure, some little brat 1/2 my age might be making more money than me...doing less work, sitting in some corner office, but I don't bear him malice for doing so. It was an opportunity that presented itself to him. He had the political ties, or the "daddies" company, or maybe he was in the right place at the right time, or maybe he networked better than me. maybe he came from a different world than me. Meaning some of us are use to labor, some like to think, some are into managing. There are many types of jobs. And in America, if you hate your job, you can leave it, your not stuck there due to capitalism or free market, it is the personal sacrifice you make to pay your bills and live.
Then there's the difference in education level, performance, personal motivation, etc, etc,.
Would you rather we dumb down the capitalists so they do not create ? or innovate ? or come up with a better way to do things ? Any truely bad company with bad products will die, and that's how the free market deals with them.
Do I think some people are mal-aligned with some messed up idea that cash is king ? sure, but to each their own. If you love flowers, I'm not going to pull you physically out of the field bent on some idea that your spending too much time with flowers and its unfair to me.
If i were bent that way, the problem would be with me, not you.

Oh my Gosh.....you are a pure socialist. No we should not all be paid equally. In your world people with a doctorate would be paid the same as Joe Blow at Mc Donalds who can't get my single item order right or my 3 cents in change. In the capitalist system people have a chance to make whatever they want of themselves. Work hard get paid accordingly. Do drugs, cut class, sit on your butt.....get paid accordingly.
BTW: I am in the field of Law and I sleep very well at night, thank you.

The problem is not capitalism, the problem is people's priorities. Capitalism reflects society as a whole. If people believe that the trash man is just as important and talented as doctors, they would have the same pay as doctors, society does not view it that way. For example, now that people are starting to believe that the world needs to be more green, green products are becoming more and more common, and being bought by the people who can afford them. Capitalism reflects society. Communism doesn't work, they tried it, things still weren't equal. The idea of everyone having everything is impossible... its very very religious in tone.

I don't sleep well at night but that is because I am an insomniac.

If the people are willing to work for crap pay, they get what they ask for. Everyone is a slave to something, as in my case, women. It isnt fair. No we shouldnt be paid equally or else nothing will get done.

Simple. A paper delivery boy in the US makes more money than 3/4 of the working force in the world. Capitalism works!

I'm really hoping this is a joke, but here goes.

The "wage distribution" is absolutely just. The harder your willing to work and contribute the better compensated you will be.
Should we all be paid equally? of course not (this is the quesiton that tells me this is a joke) Our pathetic welfare rolls are already filled with people too lazy to get a job. I hate busting my butt with 3 jobs so some ________ (insert what you want here i.e. fat slob, ignorant sl*t, etc..) can sit at home collecting welfare.

Capitalism is the greatest form of commerce in the world. Sounds like you want clinton socialism. Just take a look at how well that's worked around the world and you'll see that free markets take care of everything.

The price of gas, it sucks, but the free market will take care of it eventually. When we get tired of being slaves to oil and cut way back on demand, guess what prices will drop.

Look at things like video games, they come out at outrageous prices, but companies like Sony and nintendo know that there are a certain amount of consumers willing to pay that, when those people are done buying and the demand goes down at that price, what happens? prices go down, the free market corrects the problem and prices become reasonable again. There are a million examples of this from video games to plasma tv's, from "tickle me elmo" to the newest gotta have basketball shoes.

Are you saying that all doectors should have the same salary no matter how good they are? that a person working in some kind of shop should be paid the same as the woener of this shop?
what are you saying?
I mean it's ok to question the system but would you really like everyone to have the same thing?
if the world was like that, what's the point of getting up in the morning, whats the point of doing your best?

we shouldn't all be paid equally. If I spend hundred of thousands of dollars and go through 12 years of college to become a doctor I should get paid more than the man that works at MacDonalds.
I agree that there has to be a better way to do things. other than movie actors get 12 million a year and teachers get 35,000, but very few people are willing to change it.
