I was in Iraq last Christmas. The Christmas before that I was in an in-law's trailer in Texas - It was hot and everyone was trying to kill me then as well.

I've never spent it in a country other than America, but there are some pretty hot places in America. But I've never been to a place like Australia, where it's actually Summer and not Winter during Christmas time.
I spent Christmas on a beach at California once. It was a little strange seeing these girls jogging in shorts, tank tops and Santa hats, and watching Christmas movies with a view of a sunny ocean. We had a Christmas tree inside and palm trees outside.
I've also spent it in Arizona. I went swimming next to cacti on Christmas, that felt a bit odd. It felt weird because I live in Colorado, and it's always cold and snowy and stuff, but both trips were nice. It felt a little weird but it was still very fun.

I spent Christmas Day on a beach in the Virgin Islands once. Yes, it was weird, even though I was living there at the time. I was also in Hawaii over Christmas one time when I was in the service. It didn't feel anything like Christmas in the U.S., either. And I don't mean to put either place down. It just felt different, but it was an interesting different. Most people don't get to experience things like that.

Not Christmas Day but I went to South Africa on the 27th December 3 years ago. We had lunch on a wine growing estate called Boschendal near Stellenbosch on New Years Day. It was a picnic and the food was presented to us in huge hampers and there were well presented tables to sit at or the lovely well looked after grass to sit on. The 2 pm temperature was 30 deg C. It was super. The wine was very good and was only £3 a bottle and we had about a bottle each to drink over the lunch time. We slept or dozed on the grass until about 5pm. We would love to go back to SA over a Christmas. Is is a wonderful place to go to and everybody be they black, white or brown were welcoming and friendly.

Louisiana, USA. I don't know any different so I don't know if a hot place is weird. We still decorate the same and have a tree and all.
The kids can play outside more.
We have to turn on the A/C while we are cooking or we are all in the cabin because my sister wants a fire in the fireplace even if it is 90 degrees outside.
We spend every Christmas with my parents and all the kids, spouses, grandkids and a few others at a cabin at a State Park, so plenty of room to play outside.

Well regarding one of the answers, I'm in Florida right now, and I can tell you its getting colder than I'd like for Christmas..
But yeah, I spent one christmas on the beach in Sydney (well around sydney anyways).
Its really odd, but fun too.
It does feel really strange, sitting at home watching Christmas movies curling up under the blankets.. And then turning the AC EVEN colder because its just "not Christmas" without the cold!
Felt really odd, I prefer to stay in Europe over Christmas!!

Well, we spent 4 years in Hawaii and this year we'll have our 2nd Christmas in Arizona. Being originally from Germany it does feel weird not having snow on or around Christmas and it's harder to really get in the Christmas mood, but you get used to it. I think not having family close is more of a factor though, than the temperature.

I lived on the Island of Kauai Christmas of 1998. It felt different to have a tropical Christmas. There were still houses with Christmas lights and of course we had a tree. The spirit of Christmas was present and I had a blast. I just missed being with my family.

Yes, I spent a December in Grand Cayman.
Now we go to Florida starting in December.
We still put up lights & decorate a little tree.
Actually, the whole fir tree & snow thing is North American.
The original Christmas was in the desert in the Spring.

Yes, Puerto Rico, and I was born and raised there, so it didn't feel weird at the time. It actually felt weird the first time I spent Christmas in the US...it was too cold. In PR the coldest it gets is about 70 degrees. Back when I was a kid, me and my neighbors would go out and do the Puerto Rican version of caroling "parrandiando." Going from house to house asking ppl to let us in for food, and singing, and then asking them to come out and join us singing. It was a lot of fun.

I've spent every Christmas of my life in Houston, TX. So I'm used to seeing people putting up lights while wearing flip flops and shorts. I've never had the idyllic "let's build a snowman and go ice skating at the village pond" Christmas experience.
