I have a mini-bow 5 aquarium and it has a double sided light fixture at the top and it doesn't light up the whole aquarium when you put a light in. It goes up to 25 watts. I was wondering if it would be safe to put in a light on each side. It only has one switch though...that is why I'm asking.

The switch controls both sides of the hood, so another light would be no problem at all. In fact, it is intended for another light... If you are using incandescent lights, I suggest that you replace them with compact fluorescent lights (the swirly ones). Compacts are much brighter, last longer, and have a better spectrum if you intend to keep plants.
