I think it should be allowed in the vending machines and whatnot. I think it should be in the parent's discretion on whether or not to give their child money to buy these things. It's not like school lunches are the most healthiest things in the world anyways.

And no, I don't think that there is ANY healthy food offered at schools, unless you get...say, a salad and a cracker.

I don't think junk food should be allowed in schools. There are many children whose free lunches/snacks at school are the only chance they have in a normal day to have nutritious food. Also, the school is for educating the whole child and many, many kids need to be taught healthful eating habits because they don't get that at home.
Having junk food available is just too tempting for adults as well as children. If it isn't available, a hungry child will eat the healthy alternative. There are sufficient healthy choices in our local schools because junk food and drinks are not allowed.

I think junk food and soda's should be removed from schools. It's bad enough what a lot of kids eat after school using their allowance or what some parents bring into their home because they claim there is no time to cook a healthy meal. With obesity and diabetes on the rise, schools shouldn't contribute to the problem. I think most schools don't offer nearly enough healthy choices on their menu.

in my opinion, if the junk food isn't offered in schools, the kids that do want it will go out of their way to find soda and chips and candy.
at my school, we have an excellent selection for lunch, with meals from all around the world, and a salad bar. at my school there are many healthy alternatives, heck everything there is healthy.
they have vending machines in the cafeteria, but they are shut off during lunch periods, so that the kids don't stack up on junk for their entire meal (something we all did in 6th grade :o) )

No! just look at society today.Over 50 percent of americans are obese. its like feeding death to your kids. do people want their kids to die of liver failier or a blood clot!!!!

There arent healthy alternitives as long as there are pop machines in schools and unhealthy snacks in the lunch line. a salad should be enough for a person, but everyday, i watch people pile their plates to the top with any thing that looks good to them.

This world is sicening. glad you asked

good luck on your report.

in elementary school if the parent wants the child to have junk food they should be the one to give it to them, and in high school you pretty much eat what you want .,.....

no there are not enough healthy alternatives in schools, in my school you ate pizza, their special for the day, or chips and a pop..... not even a salad as an option

1.no
2. No! In my school, you eat either chicken fingers/pizza/nachos with fries, dessert(normally cookies, brownies, or jello), and 1 piece of fruit. We also have a snack bar that has brownies, cheese sticks, hot prestzals, milk shakes, slushies, candy, chips, and cookies. We need a meal that is like a sub, fruit salad, and water or something along the lines.
