Neither. I do NOT believe the Nostradums quatrains of prophecy you refer to are set to stone. Nostradamus himself even said more or less to the effect: "the future I see is NOT set to stone, if those who ascribe by my visions/words correct them".

Nostradamus offered us his quatrains in hopes we would figure them out and.....well....we hadn't had THAT great a track record of that......till now.

And it's my belief that prophecy is a gift to forewarn what COULD happen if we don't take the measures to correct them.
