I'm a very happy Wii owner, but am a little disappointed that there's not many shooters. I've decided to get myself a game system for more shooter-oriented games, and I need your help.

PS3 has a very enticing feature set, solid reliability, and a right price now that it's going to retail at $400, however I'm concerned that it's going the way of the Sega Saturn and won't be supported in the next year or so.

Xbox 360 looks like it has a solid foundation, however I'm a little ticked that you need to buy seperate periperals for Wi-Fi and HD-DVD. I'm also concerned about the infamous "Red Ring of Death".

I don't want to spend all that money for both; don't suggest it.

Well?

Really, I think you should buy the PS3.

Sure it's at a slow start, but people give it time.

It's starting to get good (shooter) games like Resistance: Fall of Man, F.E.A.R., Warhawk by the way the online for PS3 is
free ^^. And I highly recommend Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.

And you have alot of good games that are coming out next year, Like Metal Gear Solid 4, Haze, Grand Theft Auto IV (if your interested).

But if you don't really want a PS3 or think it doesn't have alot of good games. Then there's always the Xbox 360.

You have a 3 year warranty so if it ever breaks down, you could send it to Microsoft and get it repaired.

You also have alot of good (shooter) games for the 360 like the Halo Series, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Crackdown, BioShock, and I highly recommend Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion for this system also.

However the downside to the 360 is...
1. Overheating
2. Reports that it scratches your discs.
3. Red Ring of Death or The Screen of Death.

And the downsides to the PS3 is....though minor ones that could be easily fixed in the console itself.
1. PS3 does not recognize the disc.
2. The disc could sometimes not be removed.
3. DVD or BD (Blu-Ray) cannot play or has distorted picture.

But however that's only my opinion on what you should spend your money on, you'll make the choice when you get to your gaming store.

Good Luck. XD

P.S. If the PS1 and PS2 lasted about 10 years each, I highly think that the PS3 will last somewhat over 6 years or so.

Ok I have the perfect answer for you. Buy an Xbox 360. They have new 360's out now that has new hardware in it so you wont get the red ring of death, and plus alot of great games are coming out this holiday season.

The Playstation 3 has better graphics (thats what most people will tell you), but I have yet to see a game that has better graphics than the games on the Xbox 360. Plus you say your trying to buy the cheapest system right? An Xbox 360 with a harddrive will cost you 350 and a Playstation 3 will cost you 400, but you can also buy an Xbox 360 for 275. And to top it all off most of the games that are on the PS3 are on the 360 too, but the Xbox 360 has more exclusive games, and thats what you looking for in a console.

360 has a lot of fps, ps3 doesn't have much in terms of variety and gaming yet, but the best thing about a ps3 is that you can play ps2 games, because if i had a ps3 id be playing mostly ps2 games which is not so bad and if i did have all 3 systems id be playing more ps3 with ps2 games. i love rpgs and really really love ace combat 6 which was pretty much my only reason for buying a 360.

in conclusion, if you like first person shooters get a 360, if your an avid rpger then a ps3.

also if you get a 360 make sure you buy the store extended warranty (about $50) just for insurance purposes.

we own the wii, PS3 and 360 and personally I think the 360 is better. I have always leaned towards the Xbox but it depends on the system you like. Also, some people say the PS3 is better because of the blu-ray the is already included but I like the fact that 360 gives you the option to choose if you want all of that with your gaming system. I prefer to watch my movies in a DVD player and so forth rather than through my gaming system. It just depends on your taste. keep this in mind also, the blu-ray discs cost on average 10-15 dollars more than regular dvds. It may be a clearer picture but if you don't have the tv to support the colors and clarity then it seems to be a waste to me on the PS3.

Heyy man i really think you should buy a x-box 360 since the price difference and like they have alot better online playing games ( if your into that ) like halo 3 and Gears of war... but like the only probalum with the 360 is that online costs and also they have a lot of hardware failers i bought my 360 last december and since then ive had to replace 4 times ( the replacement are free ) but the only thing is it takes them about 2 weeks to send you a box to put your consle in and then you have to send it back, it takes about 1 month... but like i suggest getting the PS3 if your looking for something to play blue ray. So yeah man i defenatly say the 360 but theres alot of troubles with the 360 and im not quite sure if the PS3 has this many troubles or any at all. yeah and as you said the "Red ring of death" ive already had that 4 times and it's a whole lot of trouble to send it there and get it back.

thx

My answer is the Xbox 360.

No doubt the PS3 is bad-a, but the Xbox is just too good to ignore. They have the wider range of games since it's been out longer than PS and Wii. If your looking for action, go for PS3. Has Resistance : Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, and a few others. However, if you overall play anything, go for 360. Has Elder Scrolls for RPG junkies. Has Halo 3 for action junkies. Has Guitar Hero 2 & 3 for rhythmeers.

EDIT : By the way, if you buy one, DON'T PLAY 10 HOURS STRAIGHT ! ! ! If you overplay with the PS3, it might set on fire. If you get 360, you get "The Three Red Rings of DEATH."

Well, I would myself prefer the Xbox 360 since it was created by Microsoft. The 360 itself I heard doesn't come with a cooling system, so you can't get too far into your game before it fries the system. Halo 3 has came out, so I would just get the Xbox for that reason.
I don't know much about the PS3, and I heard it's more for the RPG's and Racers.

Ge the PS3, I have it and I've never had any problems. Don't listen to those Microsoft people who think the 360 is at all good.

The graphics are fantastic (4x better then 360) and shooting games are so fun with the motion-censer wireless controller which does not require batteries, just plug it into the PS3 and continue playing!

I suggest a 360, because it has a good game line up like: Halo 3, Gears of War, Time Shift, and many others. It has good online game play. Good graphics. You can buy arcade games, put you're music on it, and download demos of up coming games and many other features.

I know about the red ring and if you get 360 just take good care of it. My friend's brother got one a while ago and it's hasn't happened to him yet, because he takes good care of his system.
