I don't just read, I more inhale the written word.
My mom still tells people about how I cried after my first day of school because they didn't teach me to read.
I read anything...cereal boxes to novels.
The only thing I got in trouble for back when I was in school was reading....hiding a book behind a book or signing out in PE to sit in the bleachers and read.

My favorite poem:
He ate and drank the precious Words
His Spirit grew robust
He knew no more that he was poor,
Nor that his frame was Dust-He danced along the dingy Days
And this Bequest of Wings
Was but a Book-What Liberty
A loosened spirit brings

I grew up very poor, very rural, very Southern. The only thing I had to look forward to was the Book Mobile. I found this poem in 11th grade and have remembered ever since.

I LOVE to read but these days I don't read anything that does rhyme...(I have 5 kids) but when I do get the chance I usually develop OCD and can't stop reading.

Absolutely I think it's better then television! Since books can give you more detail, about what's going on in a story then what's possible, to put into an episode or a movie. Plus it gives you the opportunity to imagine what certain things look like yourself, creating a far more "cool" image in your head then, any scene in a movie.
