Kailey is a terrible trailer trash name. It is not a classy name like Ella. Michelle is ok... but kinda ordinary. I like the name Lura. It is different and classy.

I'm pretty sure Ella is in the top twenty, at least. It's still a really great name though - I love the nickname Ellie. But if you don't want to use a top twenty name, there are tons of other names that are kind of like Ella - Eleanor, Elinor, Ellen, Elin, Eleanora, Elissa, Elisabeth, Eliza, Eloise (my favorite), Elise, Elisa, Ellery (though it rhymes with celery lol), Elsie (the older names are starting to come back, like Ava), Elanor (I love this spelling), etc.
And if you don't like any of those, I LOVE Kailey. It's a traditional Irish name, I think. I definitely wouldn't change the spelling - it's really pretty as is. I don't like it when people mess with perfectly good names, like Kiley, and make it Khaileigh or whatever. Names like Kailey and Kiley are elegant as they are; bizarre misspellings look just a bit trashy. Anyway, I would love a name like Kailey Eloise - or you could just use the middle name to honor a relative or something.
Michelle is also really nice, but a little dated - I think its heyday was like twenty years ago, and it hasn't really cycled back into fashion yet, like Ava (give it ten or twenty years lol). I'm not saying you should only use popular names, but it's just that a Michelle born now might seem a bit out-of-place - people named Michelle still exist, and they're all like twenty or thirty. All the 'old' Avas are like dead (sorry! no offense meant), so the name seems really fresh and new to this generation.
Good luck!

Interesting question because my first name is Michelle and my middle name is after my grandmother ( Ella). I like my names. I was born in the days of the Beatles song "Michelle" so I had lots of friends named Michelle in school.
I like the name Kailey also. You seem to be on the right track in trying to avoid the most popular names. As a teacher I have had 5 "Zachary"s to deal with at the same time a few years back. That was an interesting year !!!

I don't like Kailey or Michelle at all. Ella is fine. I know kids named Kailey that spell their names all different ways. No one will ever know the correct way to spell it.

Ella might be pushing your comfort zone, in that case, at number 21. ;)
You might, however, consider using it as a short form of a less common given name. Eleanor, Eloise, Annabel, Arabella ... even Michelle (though that is still in the top 100, for what it's worth). Just a thought.
I would avoid Kailey, if you don't want an overly popular name. While that particular form and spelling might not seem overused just looking at the numbers, you have to consider that it's part of a huge trend of very similar names at the moment, and will therefore come across as an even more common choice in relation to them. Both rhyming -- Kailey, Hailey, Bailey, Shayley, Mayley, Jayley, etc. -- and the general K-names trend, such as Kayla, Kailyn, Kyla, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Karly, Kallie, Keira, Kira, Kyra, Kaya, Kaia ...
You get the idea. ;)

It's a bit popular, but who cares....In 10 years you might regret not naming your baby Ella and will have forgotten about the top 20 lists! I like it much bettr than Kailey or MIchelle.
How about Ella Michelle?

I don't think it's overly popular, I've never met anyone named Ella. Altough I do think the name Kailey is beautiful also.

Not Kailey! Too popular. Kailey, Kiley, Kaylin, Kaitlyn, etc. etc.
Michelle is kind of dated (actually my name is Michele).
Ella is popular, but nice.
