WACO, Texas -- School administrators gave a 4-year-old student an in-school suspension for inappropriately touching a teacher's aide after the pre-kindergartner hugged the woman.

A letter from La Vega school district administrators to the student's parents said that the boy was involved in "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment" after he hugged the woman and he "rubbed his face in the chest of (the) female employee" on Nov. 10.

DaMarcus Blackwell, the father of the boy who attends La Vega Primary School, said he filed a complaint with the district. He said that his son doesn't understand why he was punished

This is probably overreaction on the part of the teacher's aide, but the child should be corrected because he "rubbing his face" in her chest is inappropriate behavior. It is likely that it is simply a misunderstanding. If the behavior continues after correction or escalates, it would be appropriate to have the child evaluated by a psychologist. I worked at a daycare where the main clues that a young boy was being sexually abused was that he began sexually abusing other children. If a child is acting inappropriately sexual for his/her age, it is usually an indication that something else is wrong.

My take on this is that this teacher's aide should be removed from her position. She obviously has no understanding of children to have thought the 4 year old was capable of behaving in a sexual manner, let alone in an inappropriate sexual manner.

Since this happened a year ago, I wonder if there is any further information available on the case.

that's the stupidest element i've got ever heard. How can a 4 twelve months old be attentive to they're touching somebody in an beside the point way? that new child's father ought to attempt to sue. the only beside the point habit I see right here is this stupid lady accusing this new child of that form of habit. She ought to be attentive to that 4 twelve months olds don't be attentive to any further acceptable.

Good grief! As a mom with a child going on four, who has absolutely no comprehension of anything remotely sexual and is completely innocent and a loving boy who gives me cuddles all the time, that is just unbelievable that anyone could consider execution!
Lots of children in that age group are affectionate and it's all innocent. Can't they see that?
If it came to the crunch, I'd gladly take my son's place to be punished/executed than him be to blamed and punished.

Poor little guy. 4 year old kids don't know what sex it! Rubbing his face on her chest was probably nothing more than an itch. If that's what he did at all. That woman should be ashamed of herself and the school admin should be fired.

That is just plain silly. I have a 4 year old son and at that age they have NO idea what sex or sexuality are, let alone being able to actively or aggressively express that (non-) sexuality. That is just silly. I mean, at that age, little kids want to touch and explore everything and they're just learning these boundaries. People never cease to amaze me.

Of course I didn't bother to read the article because they are usually totally sensationalist and off-base. I instinctively shied away from it because you provided no link where the information (or misinformation) can be "cross-examined". So why bother taking it seriously at all?
