4-year-old suspended after hugging teacher's aide
By Associated Press

WACO, Texas -- School administrators gave a 4-year-old student an in-school suspension for inappropriately touching a teacher's aide after the pre-kindergartner hugged the woman.

A letter from La Vega school district administrators to the student's parents said that the boy was involved in "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment" after he hugged the woman and he "rubbed his face in the chest of (the) female employee" on Nov. 10.

DaMarcus Blackwell, the father of the boy who attends La Vega Primary School, said he filed a complaint with the district. He said that his son doesn't understand why he was punished

this is just disturbing.. since when can`t a young child give or receive a hug when needed.. this is just a demonstration of the filth that was going thru the teachers aides mind.. she or he shouldn`t be in the school if this is what she thought.. an innocent hug from an innocent little tot.

The problem is the school (and that it is in USA).

The school is likely pre-empting itself from possible (if unlikely) accusation of employing staff who indulge in "inappropriate behavior" with a child.

A simple conversation with the boy to explain his "misdemeanor" together with a letter home to the parents should have sufficed.

I have some sympathy with the father's view, it seems that the response of the school was entirely inappropriate.

Seriously, the school has a duty of care to the 4 year old boy and has failed in that duty, such action could adversely affect the child's psychological development and he could be labelled for life.

I think the school likely to face litigation and (likely) a large financial payment to the boy.

Only in Texas!!! La Vega? Only 2 letters (s's) away from being "Las Vegas". So it's a crime to hug people now? I guess I'm going to have to take my little cousins out at the knees so that they don't get anywhere near me to give me a hug at Christmas time. So ridiculous.

One more issue to teach these little ones that love is an issue they should avoid someday, they could become an andriod and, for get feelings altogether. What has our sociey becoming?
My young Granddaughter who is six wants to know why she shouldn't hug her little friend anymore, behind lock doors, we tell her. There are some out there that don't like that Sweet, and will have you put put out of school.

I believe this lack of emotion is horrible.A young boy or girl hugging, showing off an emotion that's as natural as breathing.

What are we instilling in our younger people today? besides the hate of war, terrorists bombs, hate for re legion....now, hugging. I don't believe it.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Just one more way to teach kids that to like or love someone is against the rules, thus making them anti social and turn them into criminals like the ones who are persecuting him now.I think it is time that we put a stop to nonsense like this.
