In my experience, Danios are some of the fastest, dartiest, most spastic fish ever... Their constant movement is very stressful for a slow moving fish like Bettas... Bettas will only attack fish that resemble other Bettas... Neon Tetras are great with Bettas, but you should really have a tank that is larger than 10 gallons... In a 10 gallon tank, the best tankmates are a Dwarf Frog or two, or about 6 shrimp (Ghost Shrimp, Red Cherry Shrimp, Singapore Shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp, Amano Shrimp). I have a betta in a 29 gallon tank with 3 celestial danios, MUCH smaller fish than zebra danios.

Your problem will be keeping up on the maintenance, with such a small tank, you'll have to keep on top of all the variables.

Chad is full of something or the other, the Danios can outrun any Betta and the Betta would have no interest in fighting with a fish that doesn't look like another Betta. However, that's a pretty small enclosure for six of anything.

The Zebra Danio should be kept in groups of 6. The Zebra Danio is compatible with the Betta (Siamese Fighting).

Yes you can put zebra danios with a betta
BUT
not more then 4 in a 5 gallon tank, otherwise it would be too crowded
You could also add a couple of applesnails
But keep in mind that you will also need a 25 watt heater for your tank to keep the temperature around 78-82 degrees

Hope that helps
Good luck

Male Beta are only aggressive toward other male Beta. They make very good community fish. But with a 5 gallon tank, that already has 6 fish, adding anymore might compromise the water quality, and give you problems with disease.I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a large filter, and change 25%of the water twice a week.

No. Don't put 6 Zebras with a Betta in a 5 gallon tank. The Betta will "MASSACRE" the Zebras.

It is not my first choice, Nor is it the first choice of the Betta (betta splendens) Siamese figthing fish or Betta's do especially well all by themselves. Betta's are labrinth fishes meaning they can actuslly breathe air. Goldfish contrary to popular belief grow throughout their lives which make them poor choices for "bowls" However bettas are ideally suited for the proverbial "golffish bowl". thier natuarl food is mosquito larvae available freeze dried from any good fish store. Speaking of fish stores stick with small tropical fish stores not chain stores where there is no specialties and for all of your pet sakes stay out of wall mart unless you want advice from a guy in electronics that is merely filling in. getting advice from someone in
