Were Lemieux - or Gretzky - this hot and cold against those big meanies from Philly?

Jay - I think you took my question too seriously. Crosby is good, it's the folks that have already annointed him as the greatest that I don't like. I respect Crosby and the Pens and I think most folks here realize that I'm just razzing. I didn't complain last year and won't start this year even if the Pens go 6-0 against the Flyers for the rest of this season.
Lighten up, please.

Mr. Taco - that was way back in 1974-75. And what is your favorite team?

I thought Syd is the new NHL???? Since he gets rammed down our throats every chance the league gets, I thought he was the only player in the NHL thats has any skill. Wait a minute, I thought the was what Lindros was supposed to be too????? Where did that get him? Just trying to say that, no matter how good a guy is, a team can always be better.

Four things:
1. It's a little early in the season to be jumping to conclusions.
2. One guy does not make a team.
3. Lemieux and Gretzky didn't exactly win the Cup in their first few years in the league.
4. When was the last time Philly won the Cup? Hmm...

For one thing, Crosby doesnt beat them, the Penguins do. Apparently their not beating them though. A team should never ever go easy on ANY team. Try your hardest every game no matter how sucky the other team is (wish the sharks would listen to that).
By the way, when will that Sid the Kid nickname end?? I mean, it cant last forever, he wont stay a kid for the rest of his career.
But anyways, winning or losing doesnt have anything to do with one player on your team (although a goalie is the exception). Winning is a team effort. Losing is a team effort.

We can't beat you every game - except for last year, of course. And it's not Sid's fault we have a mediocre defense and a goaltender that can't figure out rebonds are a bad thing. Don't worry though, it's still a long season and since your team sucked so bad last year, we'll let you enjoy a couple good games.
And really, this anti-Sid thing you have going is really pathetic. Jealousy is an ugly thing, my friend. But of course, since you're a Flyers fan, I wouldn't expect anything less.

it took Wayne Gretzky and the rest of the Oilers a good 5 years too bring home the Stanley Cup to become the very best you need to lose the Islanders before becoming a dynasty they needed to lose heart breakers to become great as for Gretzky, Lemieux and Crosby will go throughout the same struggles as a team to find that key ingredient to win as a team. just like Gretzky and Lemieux, Crosby is racking up the points but still to become the very best you need to lose. you will learn allot from losing game in and game out it's a great learning tool to turn you in to a great leader. and two other players I can name like Yzerman and Messier also. give the team time to grow and learn together, this is still a very young team and will learn from their mistakes.

Well, even Wayne's Oilers and Mario's Pens didn't win every single game. Besides, Sid's barely 20. Give him a break. He's already got the pressure from being captain and it doesn't help with everyone criticizing him. Fans have to give him some space so he could just relax and play.

He's got a long way to go before any comparisons to Mario..A great player does not necessarily make a great leader.

Horrible coaching. And Crosby is on pace for about 120 points, so he is obviously doing his part.
