First off, let's be realistic here: They really haven't played the best teams yet and so far their schedule has been pretty soft. It's easy to look good in a weak division. The only team so far they've beaten they can honestly brag about is NJ.

Before you start thinking the Celtics are unbeatable I would suggest you wait and see how they handle the better teams in the league: like the Spurs, Mavs, Suns and Rockets.

Although there putting up spectacular #'s they still have a long way to go it's only been 4 or 5 games. Look at the mavs last year there record was 0-5 and they went on to a 67-15 record. First 4 or 5 won't matter what matters is the playoffs. Look at the mavs once again. The mavs were judged by there playoff performance not regular season. Boston might have all the fame and glory for now but when it comes playoff time that's when we start to judge about there performance.

and why in the world would we want to do that?

the suns, mavs and especially the spurs do have a say in the matter. i'm pretty sure the pistons and the heat (once they get dwade back and the rest of the team is healthy) would also like to say something about that too.

don't let the easy schedule fool you. who amongst the teams they've played against could have beaten them anyway? new jersey? washington?

they haven't played against an elite team. the first of these teams they would face is the pistons... in december... still a long time away. the magic could play spoiler too. first of the better western teams, utah on the 29th of december. and they won't meet the elites of the league till mid-season, a time when these teams (most notoriously the spurs) are content to just cruising along, conserving their energies for the playoffs.

and how long do you think rivers can afford to play these guys 37-38 minutes a game? they're still in the honeymoon phase. once they play against the top teams, then we can get a proper appraisal of this team's true value. but right now they are benefitting from their schedule.

Not yet. They have to earn it. Dude, the Hornets and Clippers had the same record as them just 2 days ago.
