JuJu made me think of this song we all used to sing in the car when we traveled: Salvation Army, Salvation Army, put a nickel in the drum save another drunken bum.

Salvation Army, Salvation Army, put a nickel in the drum and you'll be saved.

Does anyone know this one? After the chorus every stops and each takes turns saying things like, "You know back where I come from the women have to wear their dresses down past their knees." Everyone groans, "Aaaaaaw" then the person yells, "But it's made of cellophane!!!" Everyone yells, "YEEEEEY!" Then go into chorus. Anyone know any more?

In the early 60's there was a folk singer, Judy Henskey, huge big husky voice, would sing the salvation army song, go into a dialog in the middle of it..."I drank a quart of gin a day (booooo), I was a sinner and stole money (boooo) NOw, all I do is stand on the this cornern and beat thei god damend drum! "SAlvation Army......." (song) Being the sheltered person I have always been (can't ya tell) I had never heard this thing before...what a way to be introduce to it!

I grew up in Indiana and never heard a song like that. I am surprised, too, becasue the Salvation Army has always been a big part of this community. Thanks for the early morning smile!
