I agree with you 100%.
The 'masses' seem to looked upon, and felt as, sheep to be herded for the slaughter... for those sheep that dissent and fail to conform, doom lies ahead.
Our politicians don't care... not really. The number one thing on their minds is 'what can I do to get re-elected."

Regardless of what Environmentalists may think, this could be considered a National Disaster or an Act of War...before that happens, we have our own Natural reserves of oil and will Pump the Hell out of the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. It can be done safely and not harm the environment. We should never give up Sovereignty for Oil or take Bribes and Blackmail.
By the Way it is the Sierra Club that is also over running the country with Illegal Aliens, trying to Teach us Greedy Americans what it is like in Third World Countries. Most of them including Schwarzkopf retired General from the United States Army is filthy rich...maybe the taxpayers should recind that and his service in the military.

Oil is what you are worried about? Hate to break it to you, but there is a lobby for everything under the sun and they all pay BIG bucks to play. Oil is just one of the many, many players. I'd be more worried about some of the ones you don't hear about. What about the trial lawyers? They give tons of money to keep laws favorable so their clients, the lawyers, can continue to sue over every frivolous thing. The makers of VIOXX just lost 8 BILLION dollars. Who do you think is going to pay for that little payout? Big oil is the least of the problem.
So, while all the fools on here insult each other about bush, Clinton, liberal, conservative...Guess what? They are all selling us down the drain. Look at immigration. The vast majority of Americans want something done, yet congress has pretty much ignored us. The dems want the votes, the repubs want the cheap labor. Meanwhile you and I pay the price.
Big oil? I wish that was all we had to worry about. We are going to be praying for something as benign as big oil real soon!

Lobbyists are everywhere in Washington, protecting the interests of Big Oil as well as all other big businesses. Until we OUTLAW the practice of lobbying, the corruption and graft inside the beltway will continue unabated.
Big Oil has bribed Congress into allowing them to destroy the environment and drill for oil in some of the most pristine areas of our country, which will ultimately do more damage than all the benefits that additional oil will bring to American citizens.
Big Oil will soon take over two-thirds of Iraq's oil fields if Bush's number-one non-military 'benchmark' can get passed through the Iraqi Parliament. This immoral, evil, greedy act virtually allows Big Oil to STEAL Iraq's most valuable economic resource just so American motorists have access to cheap, easily-accessible oil instead of learning to drive more fuel-efficient cars and use less oil.
There is no doubt that our elected officials, government bureaucrats and federally-appointed appointees are among the most corrupt in the civilized world.
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and all their war-mongering friends deserve a special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell where they can rot eternally, along with
* 535 members of the most arrogant, incompetent, wicked, contemptible, cowardly, corrupt Republican-led Congress in U.S. history that stood by and allowed Bush to run rip shod over our Constitution
-AND-
* 535 members of the most arrogant, incompetent, wicked, contemptible, cowardly, corrupt Democratic-led Congress in U.S. history that promised to end this immoral 'war' if elected, and - to date - have done absolutely nothing to keep that promise.
This war, from Day One, was all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. Bush and Cheney lied to Congress, hoodwinked the American people, and conned our valiant U.S. troops into believing there was honorable purpose in invading another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S. just so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers could become wealthier and more powerful.

How about the monies given by Green Peace and the Sierra Club and other "environmental" thugs that insure that we can't drill or explore for oil *anywhere* on our own territories... Thus we can't achieve energy independence and reasonable oil prices... You will also notice that the Chi-Coms in partnership with Cuba are drilling in the Gulf off of the coast of Florida.... So don't whine and whinge to me about "poor" Americans that can't afford heat this winter....

What else would you call it?
Our political leaders, regardless of party are corrupt to the bone because the American voters are asleep 24/7, and this is pouting it lightly!
The American people need to get out of the lethargy they have fallen into if they want their country not to become another banana republic before this century is over!

The people in congress care more about the next election that they do about the next generation.
If they did , they;d be called "statesman" not "politicians."
