It's a show of strength for everything in life but business.
Don't ever apologize to a customer and admit you're wrong. You're asking for humiliation, or worse, a lawsuit.
Think about it. How many lawyers, doctors, and clergyman have you ever known to apologize and admit a mistake that they've made? If so, very rare.
So, it's relative to the hat you wear.
Hope this helps.
Cheers :)

There is a strength in being able to admit you're wrong. Those who can't admit they are wrong are generally insecure and want to uphold a facade of infallibility that no one really believes anyway.
There is an admission of weakness in an apology but not so much an inherent character weakness as it is a weakness by action. Everyone makes bad moves. The bad moves are weak. Apologizing simply addresses those weaknesses honestly instead of pretending they didn't happen.

An apology is a show of strength. It takes a big person to admit that they were wrong and come out and say it. Apologizing is admitting you were wrong, but it's saying that you want to change. And THAT is strength.

It's an admission that what you have to apologize for was a weakness, but the strength is that you found the courage to do so and will not do it again.
So it's both.

I think it's a sign of strength and maturity to apologize. Only weak people and children can't admit when they're wrong.

The thing about an apology is it takes the other person by surprise , thus penetrating your opponent in the deep spot . allowing you the upper hand if only for a brief second , that is enough time to think of a way to keep the upper hand , and that same second so shakes your opponent that they loose their sight of the upper hand and become vulnerable ,,,, It's all over the same apology,, and takes only a second to turn things around

Its a show of strength. Not many people can admit they are wrong. One who can do what most people can't, is a show of courage. Courage is doing what your scared to do, even though you are scared. With that is strength.
