When I type a keyword into the address bar, it opens with onestepsearch.com instead of google like it once did. I believe that this is causing the problem. Sometimes when I type in a web address, my browser starts refreshing non-stop and sometimes it begins to open new tabs repeatedly and there is nothing I can do to stop it, besides reboot. Also, my right click is no longer working.

How can I change it to where google will search for the keyword I type in my ADDRESS BAR instead of onestepsearch? I know I don't have any viruses, adware, or spyware because I already scanned.

I have Symantec Anti-Virus. It scans for adware and spyware as well. I did a complete full scan of the entire computer only to find nothing.

What is wrong?

Also, when I click on the tabs to open a new one, it shows a little white piece of paper with a star or something in the right hand corner. It won't open a new tab though.

If your using Internet Explorer 7, try clicking on the blue down arrow at the top left and select "Change Search Defaults..."

If that doesn't work, you can try going to Tools > Internet Options (in both IE 6 and IE 7) and change the settings in the first tab (General) under the headings Home Page and Search.

Also, downloading the Google toolbar may help change the settings.

Other than that, I can't think of anything but spyware....

You already asked this question and it was answered.

Since this is your sisters laptop, you shouldn't be messing with it at all.

If you have Symantec properly installed and properly configured and are sure it is properly automatically updating.. then run a complete scan after you force a manual update and have closed out of all programs.

As instructed before, you can attempt a web based scan from symantec.com to ensure your scanner truly is working correctly or from http://housecall65.trendmicro.com

If that still does not correct the issue then take it to a reliable and qualified technician. The worst thing to do is to continue to use her computer when you feel so strongly that there is a problem.

What is wrong... is you not listening to good advice.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Good Luck

All the way to the right under the minimize-maximize-close buttons is a magnifying glass and drop-down.
Click the drop-down and set defaults.
