Which one is a better representation of how energy flows through ecosystems in the natural world? Please support your answer with an explanation. I am a bit confused. Thank you so much.

I would say a food web, as food chains don't show external factors of energy coming into the ecosystem.

Hope that helps you :)

Webs.

food webs shows energy flow of all organism in an ecosystem

food chains only show one "chain" of the energy flow.

For example lets say there is Plant 1 and Plant 2, and Animal 1. The food web would show how all three are involved. The food chain would only show one plant and the animal though.

A food chain is just one representation of how energy goes through an ecosystem. An example of a food chain is corn-->mouse-->coyote-->bacteria. However, a food web gives us a better picture because lots of different interactions could happen, and not just those in the food chain. What else eats the corn? What else does the mouse eat? and so on.
