What I do is to go through the Advertisements, and choosing quite carefully -- that is where I place my attention.
Now that I'm an Empty-Nester and a Retiree .. I am NOT as zealous about getting to the stores early -- I'll arrive before opening, but I already have pretty much a target list for giving for Christmas, and go directly upon entering the store for those items and check out quickly (or ... if it is possible, I already have reserved (via e-shopping) the items and just head to the checkout counter and pay for what I want.
I'd be dressed comfortably -- tennies/athletic shoes and athletic wear is comfy and quite warm .. it is going to be a VERY Long day. I'd not wear jewelry or anything that could be torn off or lost or stolen. I'd also make sure that my car was cleaned up and the trunk emptied .. so that any purchases can be placed directly in the trunk and hidden from view. Make sure that your keys are EITHER firmly in your hand (and have as small a purse as possible with ZIPPERS closed -- and I put a small luggage lock on too) or on a wrist leash so that things are NOT stolen.
OTHER Than that -- if someone wants to push and shove -- let them go past .. so that you are NOT hurt in the process. Believe me, it is NOT worth it to get hurt over some stupid toy or 'whiz-bang' item.
Good luck.

Wake up earlier, be in line by at least 4 to 4:30. Best Buy or Circuit City are always good for electronics, but for thier big stuff people usually line up a night or 2 before. When the doors open, let the people in line in, so no rioting goes on. Scout out the night before what places you want to go so your not wasting gas. If your just strictly Christmas shopping and not just shopping for yourselves, one of you go one place, and drop the other at the other and pick up each other and keep doing that, easiest way to knock that list out.

The day after Thanksgiving become given the call of Black Friday as their sales zoom then, and that keeps the save's books interior the black. some shops supply fairly stable sales the 1st hour or 2 while they open, so human beings rush in to take income and save funds. i could watch the advertisements (at present's paper is crammed with them) and if there is something particularly you prefer, upward thrust up early and choose for it, in any different case, save another time while the unruly crowds are long previous. I in no way save the day after Thanksgiving. some say the crowds placed them interior the spirit of Christmas (procuring) and that's ok too.anyone can do their very own element. could your turkey be finished-filling. Be strategic. Go over the ads to plan exactly where you want to go first since the best deals are available at the earliest times. You may want to be out the door earlier, too. If I am not out the door by 4:30 the day after Thanksgiving, I overslept.

if your planning on going to walmart, best buy or circut city i'd say ya better camp out overnight. most of those places, even if you get there @ 4am the lines are insane. pack some blankets {incase cold} and chairs{you'll want a place to sit}. when those doors open run like you're on supermarket sweep. goodluck:)
