Since 9am (it's almost 9pm) my daughter has been screaming so hard she loses her breath almost non stop, only stops when shes wears herself out and when we went to the grocery store to get teething drops.
The past week she has been drooling like crazy and wants to ear my hand! The bottom gums are soft but where one of her top teeth would come in is a little harder.
after wearing a clean shirt for an hour last night it had drool soaked all the way down to her belly button.
weve tried tylenol, homopathic teething drops 6 (!!!!!) different teething rings, and a cold/frozen washcloth, little finger brush for her gums, cold water in a bottle, her hand (she cant really keep it up to her mouth) my hand ...EVERYTHING!!!
she has no fever and i already gave her gas drops so its not that. nothing will comfort her for more than a few seconds or minutes!
Is she teethng?
what can i do?
shes crying REAL tears! :(

I have a 4 month old also and she does the same thin cries for hours and hours and I am hesitant about baby oragel but this is how i find some time to relax and stop the crying with her... Go to the dollar store and by a small ice cube tray you know the little tiny ones take them and wet a washcloth with cold water then put 2 to 4 small ice cubes inside of the rag twist it and stick it in her mouth then put her hand on it or hold it let the baby chew on it for about ten minutes and it should numb her gums... With the teething rings with water in them I found that they melt very easily and warm very fast... The cold rag without ice cubes isn't hard enough therefore it provides little relief for baby... Baby oragel tends to numb the baby's tongue as well as gums and my little girl was so scared she was shaking because it was different and screaming really loud... If there is a Toys R Us around they also have something that is pretty nice... They are made by NUBY they are keys you put in the fridge and it has a non toxic gel beads in it it stays cold for a long time and it still stays soft for baby to actually chew on but its firm enough to provide relief... I only payed like 7 dollars for the keys they are fun colors and interesting too... I hope this helps...

Awww, poor baby AND mommy!!! It definitely sounds like teething - the way you described her drooling and biting. You said you did the teething drops and Tylenol. What I know works for many people is to give the baby Tylenol and then immediately give her Baby Orajel. This will calm her (hopefully) down enough to soothe the surface pain while the Tylenol has a chance to kick in. The Orajel only lasts for a few minutes. However, if you did the teething drops and didn't notice an improvement I'd wonder 1) if it is teething or 2) if your homeopathic drops aren't working. Try to calm her down, be it by swinging her back and forth or patting her butt firmly and steadily or whatever works even for a few minutes. And then try the Orajel > Tylenol again. One more thing-- you mentioned that she calmed down when you went to the grocery store.....it might just be one of those nights where you have to put her in the car and drive around until she's sound asleep. She should be worn out enough by now to sleep soundly at some point. Best of luck to you and your little one :o((

Sounds like she's teething to me, my son has just cut his first tooth he is 7 months old and like your little one he started teething around 11, 12 weeks. Try Ashton & Parsons teething powders i found these much better than any of the gels. And if she gets really grumpy, give her a little calpol, specially if she has a fever. Good luck i know how stressful it can be havin a teething baby. xx

Our baby started teething when he was only 4 months so we know the difficulty that you've been going through. (My baby now has 10 teeth at 11 months). Babies can start teething at 3 months though on the average they start at 6 months. And yes, my baby was (and is) a drooler whenever he starts to teethe. We tried Xylogel (you can buy this at Mercury drug) and it worked for a while. The best way for me to soothe my baby is by breastfeeding. :) You can keep trying to use your usual methods as well. Please do consult your pedia if it's really very hard for you. And lastly, I always remind myself that this will pass. I hope I was able to help.
BTW, we offer pre-natal, postnatal and lactation massage. We also help parents by giving them the option of buying high quality diapers at really reasonable prices (better than at the grocery!). So, please feel free to check out our site: http://mommassage.multiply.com. Or call 412-9003 (we're based in QC).

Sounds like teething could be the problem. try using some gum numbing ointment for babies if everything else fails. Only in moderation though... and only where you think the tooth is coming through. Too much is not good.
If this continues take her to the doctor. Could be something else, like an ear infection.

yes it sounds like teething to me but you should have your doctor check it out just in case. my baby started teething at 6weeks you could see the teeth comming through. now he is almost 4months and still teething bad. we use teething tablets and it works a lot of the time but not all. another thing that works temperarilly that someone just recommended. it sounds weird but a normal sized cold pickle. just let it soak in water first to get all the stuff off of it. anyways good luck

12 weeks is very early to be teething...... my kids were a little late, but neither of them cut a tooth until after 9 months.
if she was teething she should be cranky, not screaming non stop.
babies drool even when they arent teething! really, even I drool when i sleep!!
you might want to take her to the dr., or maybe even the ER if the crying continues.

With teething, it's usually more like fussiness or crankiness rather than non-stop screaming. Could she have an ear infection?
