"Can" you? Yes. Is it a good idea? Probably not.

It's against Mexican law for a convicted felon to enter the country. However, if you drive into Mexico there is no check at the border. If you fly in there is a check, but it's very perfunctory.

BUT!!! If you get in trouble with the police for any reason while you're in Mexico, they while do a check on your US record. If you have a felony, they will charge you with entering the country illegally.

Mexican prisons are NOT nice places, so you should REALLY try to avoid them.

PS.... the response that you can't get a passport if you're a convicted felon is wrong. Felons can get passports in most cases, so long as they're no longer on parole / probation. Some crimes are excluded though, so contact the passport office and ask about your case

Generally speaking, No. You must be able to obtain a US Passport to get BACK from Mexico - and to get a US Passport, you must be Felony-Free. So, yeah you could go to Mexico, in theory, but you couldn't get back to the USA.

No. My grandson is a felon. We have going there for years. We have a timeshare there. 2016 they would
not let him in. He was sent back to the USA. That really suck. The money he paid for airfare was gone.
AA did not return his money. We will not fly with them again..
