Last I heard the Dems had majority in Congress. That means they have 50% + 1 or more. What's the excuse for winning the majority and not ending the war?

Ok you obviously are not educated on Congress and how legislation gets passed...

There are two obstacles that keep blocking every attempt the Democrats have tried to get us out of Iraq:

1. Senate legislation requires more than 51 majority vote.. it requires 60 votes... there are only 51 Democrats. The Republican Senators have been using this to literally block every spec of legislation for months... so now they are calling them the Do Nothing Congress.

2. Bush keeps vetoing legislation that requires a 2/3 vote to override... impossible because the Demcrats do not have a 2/3 majority.

Because cutting off funds to our troops would be crazy. They Dems did that in Vietnam and cut off funds to the South Vietnam Army, which then were defeated by the NVA. That stupid move left the Democrats as the minority party to this day. They are seen as weak on National Defense now, cutting off funds for our troops in the middle of a fight would destroy the democratic party.

They really don't care about the war itself... they are just politically pestering to try and retain power... they know that the majority of Americans *do not* want to lose this war... nor do they want to give the Islamic Jihadist in the world a pass... They don't believe that talking nice and saying "pretty please with sugar on top" works with *anyone*... much less murdering thugs bend on our destruction.

50% plus one I think. Then it can get vetoed if not to GWB's liking and it takes more!
