i have a computer with a accelerated graphics port agp 4x slot and i found a video card with agp 8x slot will that work or is there a difference

the computer is playing up when i turn on the tower the monitor says no signal and some one told me that a video card would fix it is that true or would i just waste my money buying it and if it isn't the problem can someone tell me what is.

Yes the 8x card is backwards compatible with the 4x slot. It should work fine.
