You are only asking for trouble. You are way too young t understand now, but you will after you don't take my advice and do it anyways.pp

I think it's great that at age 13 you are interested in web sites. I didn't get started until about 20 years ago and knew nothing at all about it (I am 75 now and I'm still doing it) I have since created web sites for my children who now sell things from them. It's a lot of fun. GeoCities is where I first got started. They are good to help you. But there are other sites that are free also so just look on the web. I thought I saw something the other day with Yahoo. Be sure you get your parents permission though.
Good luck. Someday you may be a big web designer. There's a lot of money out there for good trained people in this field.

Don't listen to that person who said you are too young, I started making websites when I was 12 and now I do it as a job (I'm 20 now).

Because you are just starting out, you may just want to start with a "template" which makes making websites simple and if you want to get more serious about web designing then you can go from there.

First, get a website making program such as Trellix Web (a really good one for beginners), Dreamweaver, Frontpage, or any other. Make a new website using a template, so that the design is already set up and you just need to add the text and pictures.
Another great one is GeoCities, if you sign up with them you can make a website with templates online... that's probably the best one to go with actually.

Once you have made your website, you will need to put it online (if you didn't just use GeoCities). So sign up with a free host such as geocities.com, freewebs.com, angelfire.com, fortunecity.com... and upload your website (don't forget to upload all the pictures too). You can then sign up with Google and other free search engines so that people can search for it.

If you want to get more into web designing, you can start learning the languages like HTML and CSS. There are other languages too like JavaScript and PHP when you get more into it.
One day you will be able to make a proffessional looking website from scratch - it does take quite a bit of work to get to that stage though.

I know what I said didn't cover everything really well so you will need to research this a bit more. Good luck. :)

Building your own website is really cool. If you have a program called notepad or wordpad, you should be able to create your own simple site. You have to know HTML code though. It's not too hard to learn and you can find a lot of things online. Also, to see what a code looks like, you can click "View" near the top of your page, then "Source" or "Page Source." Some websites sources are extremely complicated though. If you want to make a website that is easy build (and have the money to do it), a program that I like to use is dreamweaver. It is a good program, but it also expensive. You can also get a free program online from Mozilla Firefox called Seamonkey. I do have this program on my computer but haven't ever used it.

The simplest way is to sign up for Bebo or MySpace or get a blog on Blogger.com.

Failing that, there are some programs out there which will do a lot of the work for you. Microsoft Publisher will do the job for you but not all computers have it installed and it is expensive. Microsoft FrontPage is specificallly for designing web sites but again, it's not installed on all computers.

If you've access to broadband, download Serif WebPlus from http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/WebPlus/default.asp If you know nothing about designing websites, it's a good place to start as it pretty much takes you by the hand.

NVU (http://www.nvu.com) is a freeware web design program that's pretty good but you'd probably need to know a bit more about web design before you use it. It's a nice low-budget alternative to professional programs like Dreamweaver though.

Keep an eye out too on coverdisks for computer magazines as they often give out freebie older versions of web design programs.

After designing your site you will need to get it online. Some free web space providers (e.g. batcave.net) allow people to use FTP. FTP is a way of uploading files to the internet and a nice freeware one is Filezilla. The help pages of your web space provider will give you the FTP settings.

Just to make a simple web site you need to write some HTML. You can use a WYSIWYG HTML editor. I use Kompozer from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer
You also need to do your own graphics. I use Irfanview form
http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm
and ImageForge from
http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_imffw.html

All are freeware.

I use DeltaCAD for doing drawings, and copy and paste to IForge or IView for saving to GIF or JPG.

You then have to get a web site. Go to
http://www.topcities.com/
and get a free one.

If you have any problems, you can email me for information.

Try www.freewebs.com and www.piczo.com
They're good for beginners, for a big custom website, you need to learn HTML which can take some time and I gave up on it ages ago...
