how much money difference is it then a Ford Mustang? How much would it's monthly insurance cost? Is it fuel effiecient? does it use too much gas too fast? Basically what I'm asking is how much money will a chevy camaro's expenses add up to each month? And last will a job at college be enough to afford one?

There is no 2008 Camaro. When it comes out as a 2009 model we will find out. The old Camaro got better mileage than the Mustang. Insurance will probably be expensive with the V8 in either. Depends on the job. Pricing will be similar to the Mustang so around 20k for a stripped V6 up to high 30k for a loaded V8. Don't forget to add a large dealer markup because its all new in top of those prices.

No, a job at college will not be enough to afford one. Unless you're a non-traditional (ie, old) student, you probably couldn't even afford the insurance. Let alone the payments.

And even though the thing is likely to start in the low-20k range MSRP, for the first 6 months to 1 year, the dealer markup is going to be insane. People are going to be paying 5 or 10 thousand dollars over MSRP for these things, mark my words. Happened with the PT Cruiser, happened with the 350Z, happened with the new Mustang, happened with the Sky/Solstice.

If it's like every other car in that segment ever, expect it to get between 15 and 20 mpg in town, and 22 and 27 mpg on the highway, depending on how you drive. The highway miles could go higher if GM puts a transmission with a good cruising gear (like the Corvette has) in it. You might be able to afford to feed the thing if you got the car for free, at least. Well, if you live in a rural area you could.

According to https://quote.allstate.com/, insurance for a 2008 Mustang would run a 20 year old male in Austin, TX (which I figure ought to be somewhere in the middle for insurance rates....or anyhow that's what I'll use for this example) with no accidents, been driving for 2 years, full coverage (you have to have full coverage if you have a loan)....you're looking at around 2000 dollars per year for insurance.

I know I couldn't have afforded that when I was in college.

And if you finance say 25 grand (say you get a deal on a V6) for 5 years, and you parents get you a good rate (6.9 percent in this case), you're looking at about 490 dollars per month for your car payment.

Oh, you're also going to have to add a few hundred dollars in insurance deductibles when some douchebag keys your car or hits-and-runs or something at school. Don't think it won't happen, because it often does.

You cannot afford it. Buy an old Camaro.

First off I love the 2009 cammaro
i assume thats what u mean
the cost is going to vary depending on what u want
chevy is coming out with 3 verions of the camaro
camaro (sport package)
camaro (fuel efficant package)
Camaro (stock)

the sport package will run you $40k
and the gas will not be good, it will have 528 hp, coming out of the remarkable Ls7 engine.
it does have the new electronic firing chip in it however which will save you a little at the pump,
basicaly what the chip does is when you dont need all of that power the computer will shut off some of the cilenders and once u hit the gas u get them all back.
with the stock camaro you are looking at $32k fully loaded.
good solid car, still very fast, has chip 2 save gas, good daily driver
the fuel economy camaro is not certain to come out right away, but it is based to have less power and more gas pump friendly( looks and sounds like a camaro without haveing the umph)
good luck with your decision.
Camaro all the way!!!

As a former owner of 3 camaros , and spend a lot of time and money on them. i think i know somethig about chevy products. No quality at all. Did we expect improvements on the new Camaro ? i don't think so. Everybody knows the electrical problems on the camaros and transam , and let me dont speak about the transmision (piece of crab) . What about the craking on the chassis, above the steering box, the overheating problems and the crappy alternator on the GTA ?
The reality is this, it came too little, too late. Mustang and Dodge has taken the muscle car market, are you really want to pay more than $20k for a mediocre quality car. keep in mind i use to love them, i love the looks of the new prototype, but we can not support a company that do not have a comittment with the customers., the company has a history of crappy cars, and Toyota/Honda/Nissan has taken advantage of that. Remenber the Fiero= fire. Beretta=lame engine/Lumina z24 gas pump /cavalier = crappiest car . etc......
i love american cars but i think the corporations. they betrayed us.

The production camaro will not even look like the concept car. It is too expensive to mass produce a car like that. If they were to charge over 40000 for it, sales on the corvette would plunge. Look to pay around 20K for a base model V6 and upwards of 30-35K for V8 models. if you have enough money to buy a V8, just get a corvette and finance 1 year longer.

A job in college will not be enough to afford either one unless its a full time job and you don't have to worry about a lot of other expenses. Besides, why would you want to buy a piece of crap Chevy when you can get the Shelby Mustang because I am sure that they will be around the same price. The Mustang is much better and will last longer.

actually it depends on what options you have on either one
because the shelby mustang is way out of reach compared to the 2009 camaro which is said to be $25,000 for the base and about $35,000 for the z28 model while the gt500 will be almost $50,000
