Let the larger no be x.
Their sum being 86,the smaller no is 86-x
According to the problem,
x=4(86-x)-14
x=344-4x-14
x+4x=330
5x=330
x=330/5=66
Therefore,the larger no is 66 and the smaller no is 86-66=20

Let the smaller number be " x "
The larger number will be = 4x -14
Sum of the two numbers = (x) + (4x - 14) = 86
5x - 14 = 86
5x = 86 + 14 = 100
x = 100 / 5 = 20
Hence, the numbers are : "20" and
(4*20 - 14) = "66"
The rquired numbers are = 20 & 66

L = larger number.
S = smaller number.

L = 4s -14.
L + S = 86.

Substitute [ L ] with [ 4s -14 ]
So, [ 4s - 14 + s = 86. ]
add like terms.
5s - 14 = 86.
To get [ 5s ] alone, add 14 to 86.
5s = 100.
To get [ s ] alone, divide both sides by 5.

s = 20.
Then plug that back into the equation [ L + S = 86. ]
L + 20 = 86.
Subtract 20 from both sides,
L = 66.

S = 20.
L = 66.

enable the two numbers be x and y we are given: x + y = 34 (the sum is 34) and 4x + 4 = y (the place x is the smaller) from the 1st, all of us understand that y = 34 - x, so replace this into the 2d: 4x + 4 = 34 - x and remedy 5x = 30 x = 6 and y = 34 - 6 = 28 so the two numbers are 6 and 28

"da larger is 14 less than 4 * da smaller":
L = 4S - 14

"sum is 86":
L + S = 86 Now it gets plugged by L:
(4S - 14) + S = 86

Solve for S.
Go back to L = 4S - 14. It gets plugged by S.

Bada bing, bada boom, you got da answer.

x>y
x=4y-14
x+y=86
input the first value into the 2nd equation to gt:
4y-14+y=86
4y+y=86+14
5y=100
y=20
input this value into the 2nd equation
x+20=86
x=86-20
x=66

x= large number y=small number

Given:
x=4y-14 and x+y=86

x is 4y-14 so in equation two wherever I see x I put 4y-14
4y-14+y is 86
5y-14 =86 (putting everything together)
5y=100 (adding 14 to both sides)
y=20 (dividing both sides by 5)

x+y=86
x+20=86
x=66

x-14=4y
x+y=86

y=86-x
x-14=4(86-x)
x=344-4x+14
3x=330
330/3=x

you can do the rest on your own...
