it should definitely be jimmy rollins. 41 steals [30 more than than holliday :O] the 20 triples is truly amazing and the doubles and HR to boot!! he broke several records this year, and although [NOT howard] utley has had a great year, being out for a month hurt him a lot, and with rollins at the head of the lineup - he fires up the crowd, the team, and the coaches too and gets the phils first inning runs. he is a true inspiration and has led our teams through every single injury. if holliday wasn't on the rockies, they still would have done well, because their whole team is solid and pretty amazing, but the phillies needed jimmy to carry them through, therefore he deserves it. He joined the 20-20-20-20 club, and is only the 4th man to do that. He has a nearly perfect fielding percentage and jumps, dives, leaps etc to get the play done. he has amazing speed and precision, and the fact that all of this is done at shortstop makes it that much better.
i read on MLB today that all votes took place prior to the tie-breaker game [rockies and padres] so the votes weren't affected by hollidays heroic performance. the votes were cast before the rockies even made the playoffs. so yes, the rockies had an amazing run to get to the tie-breaker game, but the phillies had an amazing run to get to the playoffs. the worked their butt off and got to the playoffs with Rollins help without the need of a tiebreaker and i think that will end up being the deciding factor.
oh and holliday is not very special when it comes to defense so that will effect the vote too. he's good, but not outstanding.
soooo...
if those guys who vote have any brains, let alone eyes, jimmy will have it hands down.

For me it comes down to Jimmy Rollins and Matt Holliday. Prince Fielder was great, but these two guys were just phenomenal, I'm not trying to take away from Prince's monster season, he will be a feared hitter for years to come.
I'm going with Matt Holliday. Jimmy Rollins was awesome, he joined the 20-20-20-20 club, he had 200+ hits (212), he almost hit .300 (.296), he had 40+ steals (41), 30 homers (30), and damn near 100 RBI's (94) and he set the record for AB's in a season (716). This is from a guy playing shortstop, that makes his numbers even better, oh yeah he won the Gold Glove too. He led the league in the following categories: Runs, Triples. Holliday was even better in my opinion (but not all-around, Jimmy was the best all-around in the whole MLB this year). Matt Holliday led the league in: Hits, RBI's, Doubles, andTotal Bases. He was snubbed for the Gold Glove (.990 FPCT) and he led his team to the World Series (he hit 2.94 in the World Series). This guy was the best player in the National League, he desrves the MVP. But, this could go either way without me being upset, I'd love to see a tied, like Hernandez and Stargell.

Probably Matt Holliday. Holliday was everything the Rockies NEEDED and WANTED to get into the postseason and ultimately make it to the World Series.
Prince Fielder would win if Matt Holliday didnt play this season. His stats were amazing with all of those HR's and RBI'S, on top of that he's only 23!
Next would be David Wright. If David Wright had 7 more EXCELLENT games he would be the MVP. He had similar stats as Matt Holliday but they were slightly less dominate.
Heres what the balloting should come in :
1. (Winner) Matt Holliday
2. Prince Fielder
3. David Wright
Heres what it will come in :
1. Matt Holliday
2. David Wright - Wright will come in 2nd and Fielder in 3rd simply because New York has more fans to vote.
3. Prince Fielder

Fielder didn't make the playoffs so even if he was the league MVP, the press is going to deny him it.
Rollins really doesn't deserve it, does a leadoff man with an average under .300 and an OBP under .350 really deserve to be called the most valuable player in the major leagues. Yes, 40 stolen bases is nice but stolen bases have been statistically shown to be overrated as a measure of producing runs and 30 homeruns only goes so far for a guy who never has anyone on base anyways as a leadoff hitter in the NL.
Holliday deserves it, he led the majors in Average, an obp over .400 and an OPS over 1.000. He had the best season of anyone in the MLB and don't pull the "hitter friendly park" card on him, seeing how the pitching staff had the lowest ERA in the NL after the all star break.

I think it should be Jimmy Rollins. A lot of pop and speed from the leadoff spot as well as spectacular defense up the middle. Phils don't make playoffs without him.

I think this crap about getting your team to the post season is a joke.Every team in the majors gives out an MVP to their most valuable player. If a guy has a solid year on a last place team it shouldn't matter because in most cases that hitter can be pitched around more easily which makes it more of an accomplishement.
