I ate fried squirrel & rabbit when I was a kid. I never had no squirrel gravy though. Had some possum baked in the oven once and that was just nasty cause of too much grease.

Had some racoon too fixed in the oven with potatoes and carrots too. It had gravey and that was good, but the meat, it tasted a little on the gamey side.

Shore I do. I was about ten year old and grandpa done what kilt a few squirrels. It was all blustery and cold in them thar hills and Ma cooked em up. She biled them squirrels a while in salt water and then fried em up in lard and then made gravy in a pan. Ymmm that was good eatin and we had home made biscuits with home made butter and home made molasses on the side.

well I guess I haven't lived as I have never had squirrel gravy or squirrel anything for that matter..maybe that would be a good idea as they rob the apple, persimmon and plum trees..I don't mind sharing, but they could at least leave some for us..

No, but my dad said Grandma used to make 'possum pie. I asked what it tasted like, and he said like skinned cat. I asked, of course, what skinned cat tasted like, and he just gave me a dirty look--he was a teacher, so he had that "Look" down pat. But geez, inquiring minds want to know. Still don't know the answer. My cat is snoozing under the lamp at my elbow here, and I can't imagine the warfare that would go on if I even thought of trying it out! Guess I'll never know.

Gravy with squirrels in it? You should keep a lid on it to keep them out. I don't think squirrels belong in it, honestly.
