I was wondering what would cause numbness in my areola only?

About 4 years ago when I had my first child I lost complete feeling on my areola I believe after breast feeding... Since then I haven't regained it back, I've have a bit of trouble with my second child breast feeding because my nipple gets soft really fast and he can't latch on correctly... Has anyone had this and if so, what causes it?

A nerve could have been irritated in that area but I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
