It all depends on your snake. Mine is more vulnerable and dependent on me when they are shedding. Mine is a garbage disposal and eats every time he is fed no matter what lol. If you want to feed him he'll be fine either way with or with out and he can be held, but not after 24hrs after digestion. Also it's ok to hold during shedding it's just they like to be alone at this time because they become stressed during this period.

Assuming the person at the pet store knew what he was talking about (many of them really don't if it was a chain store), go ahead and feed him tomorrow, but after you return him to his living area wait about 3 days before handling him. You should wait a couple days anyway after feeding before you handle him much. This should be enough time for him to get over the stress of a new home. Good luck and Merry Christmas. Have fun with your new snake. Corn snakes are wonderful little critters.

Never feed a snake during a shed cycle. They will not starve. Any size snake can go several weeks without eating with no physical harm. And do not handle the snake at all either during the shed cycle or 36 hours after eating, it needs quiet digestion time. If handled to quickly after eating the snake may vomit.
I have an 8 foot boa and I am conversant with snake handling and rearing.

Some snakes are more skittish when about to shed so be a little more cautious when handling. Just stick to your feeding schedule and if your corn refuses, try again in a couple of days. Mine eat whether they are about to shed or not, and often shed right after a meal.

Do not feed it
Their digestive system slows down when they shed and the food you give it could rot in its stomach......... which is NOT a good thing.
Besides , i doubt itd take the food anyway.
Theyusually dont like being held when they shed either
Their skin is sensitive when that happens.
It didnt do anything this time when you held it.
Who knows about next time?
Let it be, itll take between a week and three to shed
Keep it moist ,spray it with warm water now and then.
After its done you can feed it and hold it again.

Yes, the new skin under their shedding skin is formed. As far as them biting is another story.....As you know the film over their eye also sheds. When a snake is molting its vision will be blurred and some will lash out in a defensive bit.

I would try to feed him. If his eyes haven't turned yet, he'll eat. Snakes don't normally eat during a shed because they can't see what they're eating. If he can still see...he'll be fine.
