A person isn't defined by their actions.
When humans interact with each other, they use past experiences to make a logical inference of a person's personality. Doesn't mean that person is defined by his or her actions, it just means people will judge you accordingly.

Yes, people are defined by their actions. Words don't mean anything unless there are actions behind them. There is a chance of redemption, however, I feel that it depends on the seriousness of the action. Killers, rapists, molesters, etc will be labeled that forever, regardless of how good they become later in life, if they do. However, if you do something less serious you will be more likely to be forgiven by the other party.

As for murderers. A serial killer...yes once one, always one, but sometimes things happen however awful, but not everyone that has murdered will do it again. Certian things like rage/jealousy can drive a person to do it. But that doesn't always mean the person will do the same thing again.
Rapists & chld molesters. Yes, that is a choice. People don't get into a predicament where they are forced to rape or molest. They usually stalk/choose their victims. And they definitely have the choice not to do it. Put these types away forever.

I think it depends on the person and the act.
So no, in essence, it is not necessarily permenant; people do have the ability to change.
That being said, rapists & child molestors were often abused themselves as children which is what fuels their actions as adults. It can be VERY hard, if not impossible, for someone with those predilictions to change as an adult. At best, most can simply develop the discipline to not act on their inclinations.
Seriel killers too, are often coming from serverely abusive backgrounds, which has essentially resulted in a mental illness, and thus have a very low chance of true change in their behavior.
Someone who kills a person as a juvenile when they were high on drugs can overcome those circumstances and attitudes much more easily, and stand a much better chance of becoming a healthy productive member of society, but the desire to do so has to be there first.

to me, you are mixing things, some actions do not define a person, other actions represent a mental condition that is very difficult to overcome
one can murder, and it be a special situation, which one can repent and not repeat, or one can murder and not care
some situations, conditions, such as child molesters and serial killers, arrive from such a mental state that often they cant overcome them
it really , to me, depends on what the cause was, did someone abuse because they were abused, did someone murder for a reason?
but, no matter what, yes, your actions define how others view you, most all have the power within them to change their actions, you have to think how you wish to be, tell youself , talk it, then walk the walk of the talk you talk, keeping in mind we are all human and falter from our path we have chosen,
and thats what it comes down to, we choose, we create who we are, and who/how we are today doesnt have to be how we are tomorrow,

What else could define who you're? How else could you be responsive to what your "character" is except you have content cloth to decide it off of? it may be like asserting that i be responsive to that i'm an extremely reliable man or woman, with no need finished something it relatively is representative of being a reliable man or woman. So particular, I surely think of it relatively is the case. What you do creates who you're!

Secular karma is the result of thought-decision patterns. Those patterns can be changed. There is always residual effect to compensate for, but in the long term, there is no absolutism in reality. That was made up by binary thinkers who fear the night.
Slander of teachings that could help people overcome their delusions is more serious.

Yes a person is defined by their actions and no it isn't permanent.
We are human beings not reptilians. We have the ability within us to change ourselves and our own minds.
I believe this stand true for the evil people who would rape, murder and steal you're childhood, or rob you blind.

your question seems deep my friend.. nice to know people still think.. It all depends on the person whos judging, the person whos being judged (the actions, there words, there past). Theres seems no end to us classifling and judging others, wether it be right or wrong. We seperate ourselves in such a way that some people judge us that way, by our friends.. but no i can not say that i believe that once a murderer, always one.. it doesn't seem right. I think we all just sterio type it like that. So my only advise is to not be like those who judge and oppose. Now in actual response to your question.. it all depends.. as i have described.. email me if this concept befuddles you by any means..

Yes, a person is defined by their actions, but its not permanent, they can change it!
if a person is a rapist or serial killer, they can change their actions by being nice, helpful.. they should also consider doing some communtiy service. They should also go around the world telling the consequences of being a bad person and what not..
By doing this, they might become somebody's role model or a hero..
People should always give a opportunity to a person who wants to improve by supporting them and by encouraging them! :)
