Warren Buffet (legendary progressive billionaire) discovered when he polled his office that his secretary's (and the rest of his office staff's) marginal income tax rate was 33%! In comparison, Buffet revealed his marginal income tax rate was 17%.
He pointed out he doesn't use any special tax strategies, he just fills out his taxes the way our plutocratic, wealth coddling Congress instructs him to.

Do you have the delusion that the united statesA. is a democracy? if so, you're incorrect. the united statesA. is a republic. We vote for people who're meant to *characterize* us, a feat that happens merely while it is going to shelter a vote. the situation won't be the politicians, whether they have long gone to super lengths to enable and larger their device of flappers and kickbacks, it is the device. we would be a lot extra desirable off if we would desire to get rid of the politicians from their workplaces and do away with the workplace, yet human beings are no longer waiting to control themselves so we are caught with our elected royalty. We *do* might desire to alter the names however. The extremely-rich politicians have no look after how their components stay. The politicos think of that $30,000/twelve months is "rich" yet a number of them are nicely worth that a lot each and daily. like the French royalty of the 18th century, the wealthy politicians want merely their own convenience. "What? the folk have no bread to consume? then enable them to consume cake!" The politicians have come to have self assurance that they are our masters extremely than our servants. they are out of control. it's time to vote all of them out of workplace. we would desire to have a 'get rid of INCUMBENT' determination on the poll.

One percent of the population controls twenty-one percent of the wealth. The bottom fifty percent of Americans control twelve percent. Corporate America hasn't paid their fair share of taxes in decades, if ever. The chasm will keep growing until we have a revolt and I don't doubt that it will happen, maybe not in my life-time but when enough people have next to nothing even though they work every day, the day will arrive.

Maintain the alternative media on the Internet, Internet communities and the integrity of the Internet by limiting control by major corporations.
We who are struggling for social justice need to pierce the false image of benevolence projected by our government through the education system and corporate-controlled media. More Americans need to see our deviant and twisted leaders as they truly are. We need to deliver the message that what we are seeking is a society (and a government which reflects and represents that society) which treats all of its members with dignity, reveres human rights for all people, is militarily prepared to defend itself from a legitimate threat but not to engage in imperial expansion, limits the obscene power entrusted to corporations, is prepared to make the sacrifices necessary to protect our environment, seeks peaceful co-existence with the rest of the world, is prepared to abandon wanton over-consumption, respects international law and the treaties to which it is a part, promotes an education system which teaches a more honest view of history and critical thinking skills, and adheres to the US Constitution. We need to rally more people to our cause because it is just and humane, not because it is "left" or "right" or "Republican" or "Democrat". Partisanship is divisive and is another illusion created by the government to divide and conquer its "underlings". A moral and sane government is what we seek, and people need to understand our goal.

Communism isn't a democracy either. The poor pay no federal income tax in this country and get money payed to them if they work. Class warfare to establish the communist/socialist/democrat system only destroys the wealth they depend on. That is probably half the goal of many self-loathers on the left anyway. Keep them poor and dependent on meager handouts.

Your facts are wrong on who is paying taxes. The top 10% pay 70% of all income taxes collected. The top 50% of wage earners pay 96% of all ytaxes collected, so the bottom 50% pay 4% of the taxes. Is that too much for the bottom 50%?
There is new data for 2001. The share of total income taxes paid by the top 1% fell to 33.89% from 37.42% in 2000. This is mainly because their income share (not just wages) fell from 20.81% to 17.53%. However, their average tax rate actually rose slightly from 27.45% to 27.50%.
*Data covers calendar year 2001, not fiscal year 2001 - and includes all income, not just wages, excluding Social Security
This proves that it was not the tax cut that caused revenues from the rich to fall, but the recession and the stock market crash. In other words, you live by the sword, you die by the sword. If you are going to benefit from the rich paying more taxes, due to progressivity, on the upside, you are going to lose more revenue from these people on the downside. This is a good argument for reducing progressivity.
Think of it this way: less than four dollars out of every $100 paid in income taxes in the United States is paid by someone in the bottom 50% of wage earners. Are the top half millionaires? Noooo, more like "thousandaires." The top 50% were those individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $26,000 and up in 1999. (The top 1% earned $293,000-plus.) Americans who want to are continuing to improve their lives - and those who don't want to, aren't. Here are the wage earners in each category and the percentages they pay:
Top 5% pay 53.25% of all income taxes (Down from 2000 figure: 56.47%). The top 10% pay 64.89% (Down from 2000 figure: 67.33%). The top 25% pay 82.9% (Down from 2000 figure: 84.01%). The top 50% pay 96.03% (Down from 2000 figure: 96.09%). The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.97% of all income taxes. The top 1% is paying more than ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%! And who earns what? The top 1% earns 17.53 (2000: 20.81%) of all income. The top 5% earns 31.99 (2000: 35.30%). The top 10% earns 43.11% (2000: 46.01%); the top 25% earns 65.23% (2000: 67.15%), and the top 50% earns 86.19% (2000: 87.01%) of all the income.
Those are facts, now tell me again how that pyramid crap you were talking about works?

Excellent answer, Vinny! That was hilarious :) And Mr Smarty Pants, good call. I've seen Trout's questions before and the answer to your question is that he's not an American. He's merely the guy looking in the window of America knowing he's not wanted and to spite us he curses and shakes his fist at the best country in the world. It's rather sad actually. Poor, poor Trout :(
