No My Chemical Romance or Fall Out Boy, just because I'm very sick of hearing about them, love or hate. Please.

Now that that's clear, for some reason, I don't really have a good one, I can not stand, I absolutely loath Tom Petty. Something about his music inspires an unreasonable hatred that I can't think of any good reason for. It's not even that it's terrible music, it's actually very mediocre. Maybe that's my problem, terrible bands are fun to listen to (for awhile) because its funny or entertaining, great bands are fun to listen to because they're great, but his music is just mediocre. And it drives me insane. If I have t hear the song "Like A Refugee" one more time I might crack. And on top of that, he calls his brand the Heartbreakers! Forever soiling the good name of the spectacular Heartbreakers led by Johnny Thunders! One of the best rock bands ever. Damn that Tom Petty.

I agree on Led Zeppelin, but they did at least have a few songs that were fun to listen to, "Communication Breakdown" and "Bron Yr Aur Stomp" for example. And (sorry sarah c) Pink Floyd also puts me to sleep besides a few songs, which I don't mind. But so many songs are just slow and droning and I get bored pretty quick.

Rush I agree with, Metallic I don't care for at all, Guns N Roses bore me, definitely not a Kiss fan, and Bon Jovi should keep up the charity (unless I'm confusing him with someone else) and give up on music, he failed a long time ago. Can't remember any other answers now, but overall I think we're doing pretty good.

Hmmmm, I keep hearing this about the Syd Barret era of Pink Floyd. I'll have to look into that.

I'm sure I'll get thumbs down for this but NIN has never interested me beyond "Dead Souls" and that's just because it's a cover of a Joy Division song. I admire Trent Reznor's talent, but something about his voice has always kept me from listening to his music. Same with the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan's voice grates on my nerves.

edit: Green Day and Nickelback, and Puddle of Mudd are others I will affirmatively add to this list ...come on -- there are so many, including emo bands it's impossible to list - but I read your disclaimer Dan, so ...

I have to agree with your assessment of Tom Petty. He sucks no matter what he sings which is a real shame because his band actually plays pretty well. They should go solo. LOL!

I can also not stand Styx. Their melodies are weak, their performances are sub par and the bottom line is that they are mediocre mid-line musicians. Green Day I also cannot stand. Punk rock my ***! They are a watered down version of what punk is.
Plus all the corporate bands out there these days. The ones you mention are prime examples along with such crappy musicians like Good Charlotte, Dashboard Confessionals, Aerosmith and Nickelback (or Nickelcrap as i call them!) who only play the way their told and let their music get produced in that way that gets it on the radio. It sickens me!

There are many others I could name but I cannot think of them all right now without making this answer the length of a novel. So there ya go.

Razorlight. The only band I truly detest. As far as I'm concerned, Johnny Borrell is the anti-christ.

I also strongly dislike:

REM
U2
Coldplay
Keane
James Blunt
Avril Lavigne
Snow Patrol
The Feeling
Kaiser Chiefs
KT Tunstall
Maxïmo Park
Hard-Fi
Stereophonics
The Ordinary Boys
The Pigeon Detectives

KYLIE MINOGUE!!!! I used to kinda like her in a cheesy gay disco kinda way, but the joke's gone too far!!

Can't stand the Foo Fighters either. Dave Grohl is a cockstain and I don't like their morals. Anyone who plays a benefit gig for a society that believes that AIDS doesn't exist needs a fecking kick in the head.

Don't like the Arctic Monkeys, can't stand U2, hate Coldplay and Snow Patrol with a passion; and James Blunt is a dull twunt.

Metallica
MCR
The Police
The Sex Pistols. Yes, I said the Sex Pistols.
Green Day
Rancid
Third Eye Blind
ALL Nu-Metal
Phish
Dave Matthews Band
Rusted Root
The Grateful Dead
The Monkees

You took the very worst two out of the game and I thank you for that. Plenty left.

Dave Matthews Band
Grateful Dead
Bob Dylan
Kid Rock
Nickelback
Hinder
Creed
Puddle of Mudd
Arctic Monkeys
P!ATD
Green Day
Sum 41
Avril Lavigne
Disturbed
Godsmack
Saliva

I'm certainly not a fan of Tom Petty by any stretch. However, I will gladly take him over any performer on this list.

Spooky - The wails of living cats can also be quite gruesome as I've learned.

Bright Eyes =[
I don't know if they're "extremely popular," but for some reason I just don't like them. When my friend moved, she gave me a copy of Under The Radar with Bright Eyes on the cover, signed by Conor Oberst, which basically made me feel horrible about not liking the band, but I just can't get into them, I don't know why.

I don't know if these bands are or ever were "extremely" popular, but when I hear Boston, Supertramp or REO Speedwagon I automatically turn the station. I can't listen to any of them.
